'Law and Order: CI' Star's Alleged Stalker Caught

'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' star Kathryn Erbe may catch criminals on her hit show, but she needed the help of the NYPD to track down an aspiring singer accused of being her real-life stalker.

The actress, who plays Detective Alex Eames opposite Vincent D'Onofrio on the NBC-USA show, was allegedly targeted by Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter Charles Nagel, who uses the stage name Chaz Rose. The NY Post reports that Nagel had been sending letters and e-mails to the actress professing his love for the past three years, as well as visiting the 'Criminal Intent' set in both New York and California.

"He sent her letters of adulation for years about how much he loved her ... he was totally obsessed," a Post source explained. "It was a case of unrequited love."

Nagel's contact had been noted by the actress, who alerted security personnel and NBC producers to his advances, but Nagel was not considered a threat to Erbe until recently. It wasn't until Nagel began sending letters to the homes of Erbe's family members that action was taken. Erbe alerted police officers in her native Brooklyn, and Nagel was arrested for stalking in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Nagel is currently being held and awaits an extradition hearing.

Good thing the cops are taking this seriously, I guess when your are an actor and are being stalked they do something about it, if you are the average Jane they don't take action until "something happens" ie: you are in intensive care or worse yet DEAD. I'm glad that Kathryn Erbe and her family are safe.

Unless you have been stalked, you have no idea how scary this can be. When a stalker crosses the line, someone ends up dead.
Contacting her family was one of those lines. Kathryn was smart to take this to the police. I hope the best for her.

Too bad the character couldn't have dealt with the stalker. She would have ground him into dust in a matter of minutes. CI is my favorite of the L&O franchise and Detective Eames one of my favorite characters. Best wisecracking since the late, lamented Jerry Ohrbach.

This is one of my favorite shows.....and I know how scary a stalker can be. I was once stalked by a detective who carried a gun. I felt so unprotected and exposed. So I get it ! Its frightening.

People I'm so glad that she turned Charlie in. He was my neighbor for years and I lived in fear. He jumped me when I was a little girl.. You dont know what kind of person he is. I lived next to him for 23 years and the goings on in that house was so scary. He needs mental help really. He named his daughter bat girl because he loves bat man. I hope that they put him away for a long, long time so he does not hurt anyone.
