Madonna's Business Partner Is Artist First, Daughter Second

Madonna has conquered the world of music and is ready to move on to her next feat: taking on the fashion industry. The singer will debut a junior's fashion line in August -- appropriately labeled Material Girl -- and her business partner is none other than her 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes. "As we are working, I see her more as a creative person, as an artist," Madonna told the Associated Press (via PEOPLE). "Then every once in a while, I remembered that she is my daughter."

The singer had fair warning that Lourdes, whom Madonna calls Lola, was interested in fashion. "My Christian Dior shoes will go missing, and then some fabulous bag or my skinny jeans -- the only pair that fit me -- are gone ... Lola has been bothering me for ages about designing clothes."

The line will be available at Macy's this summer, offering apparel, footwear, handbags and jewelry. The line, which was originally Lola's brainchild, will feature "hard and soft elements," like dresses meant to be paired with combat boots.

One of the most important things about Material Girl will be the price -- each piece is meant to be accessible to a teenage girl with an allowance. Though Lola grew up around Madonna's high fashion pals like Stella McCartney, the singer points out, "When I was 13 years old, I couldn't afford expensive clothing."

well madonna's only talent is self promotion, so the kid will probably be told she has talent whether she does ot not.

I think its great to be creative and allow your kids to expand in it, but at 13 LOLA should be a kid and play and do kid things,, and leave that for later in life when she has graduated from school and the like,,,
everything Madonna does is self promotion,,
she doesn't let her kids watch tv and promotes them to do kid things, now she takes her own tween and is throwing her in the spot light and working,, she is already dating a child,, why not promote him for a while and let Lola play with kids her own age,, something Madonna should do,, great to see Guy Ritchie doing well again ,, she was the worst thing for him,, but her baby Jesus is getting a pretty good deal,,

It would figure that when Madonna appeared with her daughter in a public vein it would be some fashion image related thing. All whats on the outside. Fashion is great for people that are so very concerned with their image and the way they are perceived. You can dress to look a certain way..you can dress so people think you "look" a certain way when in reality you arent that way at all. (for example a woman who is not the least bit sophisticated can wear an outfit to make her "look" sophisticated)Being that Madonna has always been about that image fashion is the perfect venue for her.
