After months of arrests, not-so-nice headlines and rehab stints, Charlie Sheen is looking for a way out of 'Two and a Half Men.'
PEOPLE initially broke the story, reporting Sheen wants out of the wildly successful show, and has been "quietly telling his friends he's not coming back." PopEater's Naughty But Nice columnist Rob Shuter has learned that CBS is looking for replacements for Sheen, hoping to keep the 'Men' juggernaut alive.
Sheen's recent entry into rehab put a major halt on production of 'Men.' The show, which garners massive ratings for CBS and earns Sheen $825,00 per episode, shut down production in February.
"We wish him nothing but the best as he deals with this personal matter," a Warner Bros. spokesperson said following Sheen entering rehab. Sheen's camp declared that the rehab trip was simply a "preventative measure," and not due to any drug or alcohol issues.
According to Shuter's sources, Sheen has been over the show for quite some time, and wants to leave so that he can rekindle his movie career.
On Friday, Sheen's rep Stan Rosenberg confirmed that news, saying: "Charlie has done this for seven years. There are new things to do, new challenges. He wants to do more movies, and doesn't always get the opportunities during the hiatus [of the show]."
Sheen checked into rehab almost two months after he was arrested on Christmas Day for domestic violence following an altercation with wife Brooke Mueller. He's still facing charges from the incident.
An EOnline source claimed that Sheen had leaked the story of his 'Men' departure in order to get more out of network executives, but Rosenberg denied the claim. And despite the promise of Hollywood-sized paychecks that come along with movie work, an E! source thinks Sheen is crazy to leave the highly-profitable show.
"Why on earth would he walk away from all that money? The show has stood behind him through all his personal stuff. He owes it to them and, more important, it's just too much money not to keep on going," the source tells E!.
You must not have EVER watched that show. It is the funniest half hour on television. If it is not your type of humor, great, don't watch it. Obviously most people do not agree with you looking at the ratings!
Well, for starters I'm not 100 years old. That seems to be the average age of CBS (Centenarian Broadcasting System) viewers. Secondly, oh yeah- I actually have some taste. As if high ratings have ANY bearing on whether a show is good or not.
Let me guess, your favorite show is of the "reality" variety. I can picture Sheen on "The Biggest Loser." And not because he is overweight. Wow, he is no Martin nor Emilio.
Ratings don't lie...the show's been doing great for years. If he wants to do something else, then it's been a good seven year run. That's more than a lot of series get. I've certainly enjoyed the chemistry between him and Cryer and the writing that's been there from the start. If you think you can do better, then by all means, have at it. The ratings will tell the story in the end. If the show's over, I'll miss it for sure, but I've got all the DVDs so far and will continue to enjoy it for years.
He should stay with the show until it gets cancelled. He is damaged goods, Charlie will beat the charges his wife also went to rehab and has been pedaling back wards saying to the press that she had caused the incident and had fugged the facts to the police.
Seriously? Name a Big Screen Movie Charlie Sheen was in that didn't suck in the last 17 years. Can't. Enough said. Maybe he can get Katherine Heigle to co-star in the epic "Too Big for my Britches."
Too bad you are so cynical and have no sense of humor. Hateful people like you never get far in life because you don't know how to laugh. Charlie Sheen is very funny and popular, if you don't like the show, don't watch, just that simple but don't try to sell the rest of us that truly enjoy watching him.
well bean reel to answer your question, i'll start with hot shots part deux in 93 which was very funny. then in 94 there was the chase, major league 2 and terminal velocity which were all three good movies. then in 97 there was young guns which was a very good movie...so can it
Wow for someone who is not old and retired like I am, you have issues don't you? You criticize and your life is blogging on the web? And your major achievement in life is....? Wow. I was totally unaware the back end of a horse could type, quite an achievement. Bravo, thank you for the demo-LMAO.
This is probably one of the funniest shows on tv today. Its hilarious! Both stars are absolutely witty and very funny. The show would not be the same without Angus Jones. The kid is great!@
Actually no mintrubble71...you don't have any taste. By writing that you don't like the show and then thinking we should all agree with you shows to me you may not be 100 as you claim...but probably around 9 or 10...am I close? Still bedwetting? Still wearing diapers?
You are an idiot! This is clearly the funniest show on TV. The chemistry between Alan and Charlie is fantastic. Stick with Mayberry reruns, something you can understand!
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

If I was him I'd want off that dog of a show too. He's made his money, maybe know he can do something that doesn't suck.
