Gabourey Sidibe Nabs 'SNL' Hosting Gig

Gabourey Sidibe might not be up for the cover of Vogue, but the 'Precious' Oscar nominee will indeed host 'Saturday Night Live' on April 24. PEOPLE confirmed the speculation that had been spreading across the Web, as Sidibe's rep broke the news to the magazine. We know she can do drama, but can Gabby do comedy? We'll find out in late April, but in the meantime, watch the 'Precious' trailer and vote below!

Sadly for Sidibe, Justin Timberlake -- who she's admitted fancying -- won't be taking the stage as the musical guest for the night. Still, knowing JT's penchant for Andy Samberg and 'SNL,' we wouldn't be surprised if Mr. 'Sexyback' popped in for a funny cameo.

The 26-year-old Sidibe, who was nominated this year for her turn in the critically-acclaimed film 'Precious,' has made headlines lately not just for her movies, but because of her size. PopEater's Rob Shuter reported recently that Gabby had no shot of a Vogue cover spread because of her large stature. Weeks earlier, Howard Stern put Sidibe's size in the media by saying she'll never get a good acting gig again because of her frame. Our readers disagreed, and rallied behind Miss Sidibe.

She's being given the Liberal version of a pity date/
Her size precludes her from having a multi-faceted career which most actors want. Other than being a stable of Tyler Perry Chitlin circuit movies and plays, her size is just to hard too write into any movie roles that the public will buy. She should talk to Jennifer Hudson, who looks fabulous and not only is she far healthier and a better role model, now has the look that is more bankable at the movie box office. Sidibe is a walking health crisis waiting to happen. She's going too die young or wind up wheelchair bound if she doesn't cut the fat and get healthy. Producers are reluctant to give big long term lucrative contracts to performers that might not make it thru their contract obligations. Hudson got the message and after having a baby decided being a chunky Momma wasn't really what she wanted after all.

While I'm very much looking forward to Betty White hosting SNL, I can't think of anyone I'd like to see hosting less than Gabby. I didn't enjoy her lack of humility and feeling of entitlement as she visited all the talk shows plugging Precious so I know for sure this is one episode of SNL I won't be watching.

I'm excited. Gaby is a HUGE SNL fan already so she's familiar with the show and who's on it. She's hilarious when interviewed by Conan, Jimmy Fallon or just about anyone especially with her infectious laughter. I just hope some of her natural charm shows through and she gets some good skits to show that off.
