A few months after Susan Sarandon split with her partner of 23 years, Tim Robbins, Entertainment Weekly met with her over a game of ping-pong and talked it out.
"It's a long time to not be dating and to then be going back into it," Sarandon says. "I certainly love the idea of being in love, and I love the idea of companionship. Whatever happens next in terms of romance or partners, I don't know. But it's exhilarating and terrifying. I think the point is to just keep moving, and to just say yes to life."
The article says Sarandon, 63, gave a playful "no comment" when asked if she's currently involved with anyone. Reports have speculated a possible romance between the 'Thelma & Louise' star and Jonathan Bricklin (32 years her junior), one of the co-owners of Sarandon's New York ping pong club, SPiN.
Oh, and she "loves" being called a cougar.
More from EW's Sarandon story, including life after Tim, how all her new roles seem to feature her fading rather than fornicating, and, yes, ping-pong:
So wait, Susan Sarandon runs a ping-pong club? "That's kind of the charm of it -- the randomness. I mean, a ping-pong club? Who'd have thought it, right? It would be ironic if it ended up making money. The funniest thing is all the celebrity players who've come out of the woodwork: Jamie Foxx, George Clooney, the guys in Arcade Fire. It seems like every time I'm here, someone challenges me to a game."
On life after two decades in a relationship: "I did a movie a long time ago where I had to fly a glider. You get towed up in the air by a plane, and it's loud and annoying. And at some point you pull the cord and you're suddenly floating, and in your mind it makes absolutely no sense. But it's exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. That's where I am now."
On getting work without being a perky 20-year-old: "I'm happy to still be having fun and getting jobs, even if it seems like now all I'm getting are parts where I'm dying. Instead of being asked to do sex scenes, now I've always got some disease. But I'm hoping to change that."
She cries in almost every scene in her new film 'The Greatest,' where she and Pierce Brosnan play grieving parents: "Those scenes changed me chemically. When I sweated, I didn't smell like myself. My chemistry just became so acidy that I stunk. When I finished that movie, my skin actually hurt!"
Susan Sarandon has a whopping five films coming out this year, according to EW. See the trailer for 'Peacock' below:
I'm a lesbian and I would love to date Susan she's so damn sexy, 63 or not that woman has it all! She is better off without Tim Robbins, she gave that man many years, and life is too short to stay in a relationship that your not happy in, so grow up people..
I am 63 and have been told I look in my 40's - my b.f. is 53 - dating at this age is not a bad thing - sometimes life happens and you adjust. There are a lot of singles in this age bracket. I also chose not to "settle" as it is better to be single than coupled and miserable!
I must admit I'm a little disappointed. They were one of those Hollywood success stories (and they never married - just lived together). Dating at 63 may be okay for Susan since she's rich and famous but dating at 60 (me) is a huge joke. Men of a certain age, meaning my own, aren't interested in dating women their own age. They want someone at least 10, preferably 15 years younger. If she wants the same, and can do it for the same reasons all the rich older celebrity MEN can, I say go for it. You CANNOT criticize a woman for behaving exactly the same way all men have forever.
This is a joke right? Susan Sarandon? You people are acting like shes some trotting hot bachelorette or something. The woman is a tragic, used up, glandular old crone. She offers NOTHING to any potential suitor, but a lifetime of yammering misery, doctors visits and reminiscing about her illustrious film career, which has been irrelevant for decades. Susan Sarandon broke into film in the 1970s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, as a strutting, stereotypical sex-kitten(what can I say it was the 1970s, people thought Penny Marshall was a sex symbol too).
Her reputation as some sort of empowering feminist is basically just a legend of her own mind, or just believing her ludicrous Hollywood copy/hype. Regardless, the announcement of this she-fossil going solo., is about as meaningful as learning about Nancy Reagan's newest astrologer.
sarandon is one of the most annoying, self important tramps in hollywood or the world for that matter,, i couldnt STAND her when she was young, and i really cant stand her NOW.
Good luck in your single life honey,, with taht kisser and foul attitude, your gonna need it
I was in one of those younger guy older woman romances for a while and ditched it once I realized that she was getting too old. Susan Sarandon has more problems than not being involved with anyone. She is a liberal headcase and the only reason why a younger guy would want anything to do with her is because of her cash. No virile young guy I ever met has been dreaming of 63 year old as*.
To all you who are busy putting Susan Sarandon down, why did you bother to read the article? I think you are all just jealous that she has been successful and you have not. I hope she finds love again, but am sure she will do just fine on her own if that is not in the cards for her.
I don't bother to read the articles, rather I type cynnical sarccasm while drinking coffee and smoking cigs. What do you think about that? My occupation: Full time A S S H O L E.
If she is such an independent woman why does she always have to have a man in her life and be in love. After being with Robbins for 23 years you would think she would talking just the opposite of what she is. It sounds like she cannot be alone which is really sad. She is not an independent woman because if she was she would not be talking the way she is. And, since she needs a man all the time, try one your own age, have some self-respect.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

Susan who??
She's single again?
Hard to believe any guy would be stupid enough to fall for a scary witch like that once, much less twice.
Sounds like somebody is trying to catch lightning in a bottle, minus the lightning, and with a really old, cracked up bottle.
