Heather Graham and Kristen Bell For A Day Without Shoes

Though they often sport shoes that cost as much as our weekly paycheck, actresses like Kristen Bell, Heather Graham and 'Hairspray' star Brittany Snow are kicking off their stilettos for a good cause on April 8: One Day Without Shoes, a worldwide event launched by Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS Shoes. Bell explains, "I'm going barefoot for one day without shoes to raise awareness about the impact a simple pair of shoes can have on a child's life. So join me on April 8. Take off your shoes and spread the word." WATCH:

Mycoskie tells the Sun Sentinel, "I know it's odd, but we are so excited for people to once again join us in One Day Without Shoes. We ask people to go the day, part of the day or even just a few minutes, barefoot, to experience what millions of children endure every day. Awareness and empathy are the catalysts of change."

TOMS has pledged a pair of shoes donated to a child in need for every pair purchased, and a Facebook page created to support the event offers facts that make the need for charitable action clear: "In Ethiopia, approximately one million people are suffering from Podoconiosis, a debilitating and disfiguring disease caused by walking barefoot in volcanic soil."

Graham has signed on for a shoe-free day Thursday, but admits she has some concerns. "I'm pretty nervous about it," she says, "because I live in New York City and it's really, really gross here."

UNPLUG ALL YOUR ELECTRICITY FOR A DAY, PUT YOUR CELL PHONE AWAY FOR A WEEK. THESE ARE THE THINGS PEOPLE OF THE WORLD HAVE TO DEAL WITH. Ya know these folks are behind the times with deciding to promote this charity. Hanson has been promoting it for a while now. You don't see them getting any recognition. However all that really matters is that the plight of the children is brought to light.

These people don't even know what work is! They are overpaid tards!!!!!! Why not do something sincere like pay off someone who is about to lose there homes morgage? With all these tards buying 1,000 dollar shoes a pop..................no forget!!! The shoes and being overpaid for a hobby are way more important to them than doing that!!!!! Actors & Actress aren't tards as you have claim stugots798 which is a lie. Acting isn't a hobby it's what they do I don't get worked up for how much they get paid I don't get why people get worked up about how much actor or actress or sport star gets. They do have a big heart Stugots which you don't get and thats why your wrong.

I think it awesome that some stars are going to go without shoes for a day for charity.

I think its great. You see people doing stuff for hunger and such all the time but shoes not so much. There are a lot of illnesses out there that are caused by not having your feet protected.

Honestly, I think it's a good idea. They could be doing other things to help those children but at least its something that their doing. It could be worse. They could be doing nothing at all which is worse than going bare foot for a day, but I would like to see other people doing other things to help the children that don't have as much as we do.

I go barefoot every day. I didn't know that I should get on tv and say it was for a cause. I think it would have much more meaning if they didn't advertise and just take that thousand dollars that they pay for one pair and send that money to an organization that actually uses the money to put shoes on these people. Anything other than that is just a way to get your name out there. Hate to be so cynical but it did get them on AOL today didn't it?

Big whoopty! Hanson has been doing this thing called "The walk" where they walk a couple miles..without shoes..and every donation goes to toms..they even go over to africa to deliver shoes..they dont get any recognition!!

Why not help children right here in the USA? In every big city, small town or even your neighbor - thier are children going without; food, clothing, education...help our kids first!!!

Works in a warm climate. Works for rich people who will hang around parks without needles. How about, giving up pedicures for a year, now that will make them feel more 'real' and will give them feet that look more like those they are trying to have empathy with -- or how about, go without publicity for a month, go without hot water for a week unless you walk four miles to get it, make a fire and boil your own. Or what about take your yearly shoe budget and buy shoes for people without shoes without letting anyone know about it -- just bc it is the right thing to do!
