MSNBC's David Shuster in Hot Water Over CNN Pilot

MSNBC anchor David Shuster is no stranger to controversy, but sources say the host's latest stunt may earn him more than a slap on the wrist.

According to a report by The Huffington Post, Shuster recently filmed a pilot for MSNBC's competitor, CNN. Shuster did not appear on his home network this past Friday and will not appear on MSNBC today, leading some to believe that he may have been fired.

TV Newser's Gail Shister reports that MSNBC President Phil Griffin "ripped Shuster a new one over the phone," and that many expect Shuster to receive the same treatment upon his return to the MSNBC offices today. When asked for comment, Shuster told Shister, "I can't talk about it."

Shuster had previously been suspended from the network in 2008 after alleging that Hilary Clinton had "pimped out" daughter Chelsea in order to gain support for her campaign.

MSNBC spokesperson Jeremy Gaines said that if Shuster has, in fact, filmed a pilot for CNN, he will be "punished appropriately."

michael, I sorta agree with you, but the other two, Rachel and Olbermann are all racing together to see just WHO can be the most obnoxious Obama puppets! I never liked Shuster, but seem to remember him being on another network, huh?

I never watched him anyway, just surfed by him a few times. He sounds like a whinning brat on a playgound. Can they dispatch Olberman and Matthews as well? Maybe then I could turn back over to MSNBC occasionally and watch. Now, it's like the "Let's blow Obama Network." Jeeeeez. They make fun of Fox for carrying Sara Palin too much? Well yea, they do but I think they have a little bias of their own. I mean, when your key man, Matthews, makes stupid statements like "Barrack Obama makes thrills run up my leg" I think you have issues. Hey Chris, he's a f-ing politician, not a male cernterfold. Please go home and do whatever it is you do to yourself in private.

It's a horrible situation that so many white Americans hate the President simply because he is African-American. They hide behind this so-called Tea-Party Movement in which most of the nearly all-White members don't know what it stands for, including the exceptionally ignorant Sarah Palin. The Tea-Partyers are simply a more sane version (in most cases) of the right-wing Militia nuts like the recent nine members who were arrested for plotting to do deadly harm against local law enforcement and the government. These nuts just hate folks because of their own lack of intelligence and exceptional ignorance. These are folks who believe that they are owed a life given to them by society simply because they are White.

They are uneducated and stupid. They don't realize it's their own failings and hatred that has mired them in misery and they always look for a scapegoat to justify their state of being. Usually, they attach all of their failings to the government and minorities. They truly are pathetic!!

This society is and always has been geared for White people to succeed, even if that means the destruction of every other culture and race. White people can screw-up time and again and the dominant culture bails them out time and time again. A White person who doesn't succeed in the American society is just a pathetic White person. Stop blaming everybody else for your failings!

I agree with you PTS, if not for KO, RM, and others on MSNBC, people would only have tabloid journalism like Fox, and remain ignorant to the truth about what's REALLY going on...coverups, C-Street and The Family, and who REALLY funds the protesters to health care reform and many, many other stories you don't hear on cable news...but I guess some people prefer to stay ignorant.

I will watch David Shuster on CNN or MSNBC:) He studies the people he interviews, before he interviews them, so that he can ask a question that throws them off their talking points! He is very smart and hardworking. I wish David Shuster the best!

Smitty, I do not hate the President. I belived him he has fulfilled all his promices. I feel he has never lied. That is why I did not vote for him. When he ran during the primary I listen. I personally would not of cared if he was blue. If his policy were ones that came close to something that I could agree with. Only people Smitty like you, who put race above what you belive is right. It does not matter if you are black or white.

I do not hate Obama. I dislike Obama and it has nothing to do with his being biracial. I do wonder why he lied on his census form though. His mother was white.... black father, white mother .... he's not smart enough to figure out his ethnicticity?
