The Evolution of Nicolas Cage's Hairstyles
Nic Cage for the upcoming 'Drive Angry,' Cage in 'Con Air and 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice'
Oh
Nicolas Cage! Not only does Nic continue to torture us with sub-par action adventure movies, but he keeps doing it with some unfortunate man hair.
In Nic's latest hair-paux (allegedly for his movie 'Drive Angry'), Cage goes blonde and scraggly, looking less like a movie star and more like a Canadian hockey player.
"Cage, though still considered a heartthrob by many, suffers from some common hair woes, including dated sideburns and a receding hairline. His signature look is a fluffy, combed-back hairstyle, but Cage hasn't been afraid to explore the true depths of bad hair through his various characters," says
StyleList's mane guru Marissa Gold.
This new do isn't the first time that Cage has gone business in the front, party in the back for a movie role.
"In 'Con Air,' Cage embraced prison life with a shoulder-length mullet. In an upcoming film, 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice,' Cage has a rogue-looking chin-length shag reminiscent of Meg Ryan having a bad hair day. It's great to see Cage embrace his roles, but could someone throw the guy a bone and let him have great hair for once?" Gold says.
Critics, who like to attribute the start of Cage's unfortunate hair to 'Con Air,' aren't reaching far enough back into Cage lore.
Cage in 'Valley Girl,' 'Peggy Sue Got Married?', 'Raising Arizona' and 'Adaptation'
What about his punk rock feathered locks in 'Valley Girl' or his blonde helmet hair in 'Peggy Sue Got Married?' Or the time he coupled crazy hair with a ridiculous mustache in 'Raising Arizona.'
"Nic Cage's hair actually might be more versatile than Nic is as an actor. It certainly has more depth," says hair blogger Margaret Kelly of
Lock & Mane.
A personal favorite is his man fro in 'Adaptation.'
"'Adaptation' may be the closest we get to seeing what Nic looks like when he gets out of bed in the morning," Kelly says.
We are all for embracing a movie character with gusto, but we agree with Gold -- can't someone just write Nic a character with some lovely locks?

I have one thing to say to Nic Cage about his hair: There really IS a cure for baldness! It's called ACCEPTANCE!!
Other than that, I dig some of Nic's films (such as Con Air, National Treasure 1 & 2, Gone in 60 Seconds--and CAN'T WAIT for Sorcerer's Apprentice) because I love the scores. Rock on, Trevor!

Raising Arizona was on the other night, forgot what a hilarious movie that was, he was pitch perfect with Holly Hunter. And what about Moonstruck, loved that one too.

I just love this guy. Hair,no hair, who cares. He is the man!

Lisa Marie was an idiot to let him go and the writer also fits the mold but then again I have always been very partial to balding men. There are a couple of his very early movies I wouldn't bother to watch again but otherwise I love his work.

Watch Raising Arizona and THEN say Nicholas Cage can't act. I dare you not to laugh. I love him AND his many hairdos.

I hated the vulger language in his old movies.
It made Mr. Cage feel less admirable.
I must admit National Treasure was really good.
I hope he keeps on. With the cool stuff.
Who cares what his hair looked like then.
Did yours stay the same?
Hey, Oprah had a hair change and she looks better.
This is kind of pointless
but cage is still in my cool dude category.

Wow, there must not be too much news when you have to resort to such drivel. Who cares about Cage's hair styles over the years. That has to be the most uninteresting blog I have ever seen. Maybe he should cut it all off and pay is IRS debt.

Well they say that the trouble with bad hair starts in the bed. Maybe he should take to the bed a bit more. Try staying off his knees so his head don't ram the head board so hard. LOL He needs help!

He is definitely bald and has been for a long time. I actually like his acting though.

To be able to change your looks to go along with your character is great! Who wants to see the same look for every character? PLUS...Nick's voice is great and sexy. He has the looks, the voice and the talent that makes a great actor. I guess he may appeal to us more mature women more so than teens, and definitely not to men. He is one of my favs ranked up there with Kevin Costner! You go Nick, you are great!
