Andrew W.K. has been on a nostalgia kick this week, penning a Guardian article called "It's time to let you hear the song which earned me a juvenile restraining order" and tweeting excellent and outrageous photos of himself as a 10-year-old and 16-year-old (above) party-master-to-be.
"I've never let anyone hear this song before. I'm deeply humiliated and embarrassed at the thought of anyone hearing it," A.W.K. writes. "This is probably the most intense and personal song I've ever recorded -- it's called 'My Destiny' and it was written and recorded when I was 17. I shouldn't do this."
Set to a haunting organ melody, the song features ominous lyrics directed at a girl the party rocker was infatuated with: "Drove past your doorway 15 times / I don't want to cause you harm / Harm -- that's what you're in for / If you don't open your door."
"The girl heard the song and was completely freaked out," W.K. says. "She told her friends, teachers and parents: 'This guy at school is stalking me and threatening my life.' She played them the song and they called the police. I had a juvenile restraining order put on me, which lasted until I was 21."
W.K. goes on to say the head of his school called him and his parents in to listen to the song -- he remembers being "paralyzed and devastated by the humiliation."
"I've never told anyone about it since, except my closest friends and family," he writes. "Three months ago, I was advised by my personal manager and life coach to finally let people hear it, to resolve the nightmare. So, I am. Now is the first time since the incident that I've let anyone hear the song. And I can hear why."
We're glad he shared -- and it gives us a reason to fondly remember Andrew W.K.'s visit to PopEaterlast summer. Enjoy the video below!
I know. its just a song. no one freaked out and called the police when emeinem wrote and sent out all those songs about rapeing and killing his exwife and mother...its just a song and an outlet. sometimes songs like this need to be written so angry people can vent.
He wouldn't have to knock but one time at my door! He would be the one wrapped in the blanket! We have enough kids showing up in blankets or missing all together without promoting it. What a sick song!
Natosha, just because Eminem did it, that doesn't make it right. That's lame justification for this song. Write it and keep that garbage to yourself. You can't tell me he didn't think this wouldn't freak that girl out.
As an adult with a teenager and a pre-teenager, and not forgetting my own youth--yeah its a little creepy, but I can see at a young age thinking it sounds cool and trying to be artistic. But now-a-days people are hysterical and taken out of context it could be really bad, but if you knew the kids,it could just be one of those things.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

Just wondering how many posters old enough to
have daughters would want this sick freak stalking them.

I TOTALLY agree. You probably won't get many replies to this one. These people are ignorant not to think about things like that before they condone.
I totally agree with you! I wouldn't want anyone like that near me let alone my daughter!

That's just creepy, I would've been terrified being the object of his affection.

Anyone who finds this ok and normal is out of their mind! The first 10-15 seconds should frighten the hell out of any child or their parents.
