'Modern Family' has only been on television for a little over half a season, but we're already head-over-heels in love with one of its couples, Cameron and Mitchell. In fact, we're willing to argue that the lovable gay duo, played by Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, is the very best on the small screen right now.
Sure, TV couples like Meredith and Derek and Jim and Pam may lead more exciting lives, but Cameron and Mitchell (Citchell? Mameron?) represent one case in which television has crafted a couple that is both relatable and ultimately realistic, no matter your sexual preference.
Like all good couples, Cameron and Mitchell love and support one another. They may not make sense on paper -- Cameron is flamboyant and outrageous, while Mitchell is more of a straight man (no pun intended) -- but they've found a working balance between one another that gets them through even the most dire and embarrassing situations -- like, you know, when Cameron decides that he wants to dress up like a clown, or when Mitchell wants to quit his job. As shown in the clip below, it all evens out eventually.
Better yet, they're not perfect. They have fights; they worry too much; and, for better or worse, they make their fair share of mistakes, from offending a mall Santa to accidentally locking their daughter, Lily, in their car. In other words: They go through the same everyday problems as we do, and we love them for it. (Heck, my parents accidentally locked me in the car once, and I turned out OK.)
And while Lily's doctor may disagree a little, Cameron and Mitchell are terrific parents. Some may label their parenting skills as overprotective -- they jump at the quietest sound coming from Lily's baby monitor (Says Cameron: "I'm like a mother bear. When I hear my cub crying, I have to run to her.") -- but they just want the best for their daughter, and apply the same kind of love they have for each other to her, if not more. We don't know which parent Lily will ultimately take after, but she'll be a lucky girl either way.
So, here's to Cameron and Mitchell, the best -- not to mention funniest -- couple on television, who every Wednesday night make us more than happy to be part of their family.
I think that it is sick that they let this on t.v. call me what you want but I never would let any of my children watch two gay men or women for that matter. Children should be told by there parents not t.v. Everyone has a mind of there own. If one of my children told that they were gay I would be fine with that. Gays shoud be upset because they are being laughed at.
I have to say something, because not only am I laughing at a television show again, I am seeing real family situtions. I adore this show and look forward to Wednesdays..oh and if your not watching The Middle thats on right before it your also missing out on another great show!!!! the whole cast is wonderful and those kids are great little actors!! Especially Brick Heck!! and can you guys do me a favor..leave Jesus out of this!! thanks!!
Ugh! Why praise two guys pretending to be a couple? I have homosexual friends, but I do not agree with the lifestyle. Of course I do not hate homosexuals, I just wonder why television has to glorify the lifestyle? I do not want my children to think of it as normal behavior. And, quit calling it "gay." A perfectly good word for happy has been ruined. (Please notice, I did not revert to profanity.)
Why is the divorce rate so high among straights? If you believe in the bible why do you let children evolution in school? can we have some consistency?
You have got to be kidding? Moder Family simply sucks! Poor writing, poor directing, and poor acting. The whole show is nothing but a pile slap-stick, one-liner jokes......shoved together in a stupid presentation! Modern family simply sucks!
Leave it to crazy Christians to always ruin something. This was supposed to be a fun piece about a great show. Everything doesn't revolve around the Bible all the time. Who's to say it's all right just because it's in print. It's mostly just a bunch of stories. Kinda reminds me of Fox News!
What's funny to me is that everyone keeps referring to Ed O'Neill as "Al Bundy". His character on MF is soooooo unlike Bundy (Al Bundy was "everyman" and HE was funny). Married With Children was 100 times funnier than Modern Family. Not intellectually challenging, but funny all the same. Guess that's why our TV's get more than one channel :)
I can't get into this show at all although I have tried. As for the gay couple, the small red haired guy who is actually gay in real life, I like and think he plays his role well, but that fat guy who is straight in real life, is such an over actor in his gay part, he makes me sick! He represents gay men very badly and plays such a drama queen.. If that is his goal, then I guess he is achieving it. I would hate it if I had him for a neighbor!!
One last thing - remember "Samantha Who"? Another "hilarious" and "well-written" show that lasted what 1 season? 2? That show sucked too - must be the "life after Married With Children curse". All Modern Family needs is Ted McGinley (the series killer), the it will be gone gone gone LOL
Please- God is a figment of human imagination. God didn't create humans, humans created God when they couldn't deal with what they didn't understand. But, please, stop the bickering about this, because it should be irrelevant to mature adults. A belief in a deity only reflects the childish wish for a perfect parent in the sky-- which doesn't exist, except in your imagination.
Sickening. Two men can't have a baby. No matter how much the liberal media tries to brainwash us into thinking that gay is normal, it's still wrong and SICK!
Even with your obvious limited intellect and vocabulary, you've managed to find the perfect words to describe yourself: "Wrong" and "Sick". You might also add: "Pathetic", "Hateful", "Bigoted", "Moronic", and on and on....
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

God forgives all. IF they repent and follow His teachings.
Forgive the sinner but not the sin!!

when did this turn out to be about Jesus?
Reply
t,it became all about Jesus when he said "Love your fellow man."
Since that is what two of the main characters in this show are doing,it's a mystery to me why all the bible-thumpers are so outraged.
Not only did Jesus say that, but he ran around with 12 other dudes everywhere he went, and was never known to have a girlfriend.
You ain't gotta be Sherlock Holmes to figure that one out.

Kudos to Ed O"Neal for once again anchoring a ground-breaking show that both entertains and educates.

It seems limiting to live by a belief system that was created by other people and encourages hatred for those who are different.
