Rihanna showed the 'American Idol' contestants on Wednesday exactly what it takes to be a massive star: Stage presence, grandeur and a daring blend of sex appeal, wardrobe and attitude. The songstress took to the 'Idol' stage in a staggeringly-tight PVC catsuit, belting out her new single, 'Rockstar 101.' During her performance, Rihanna prowled the stage amid pyrotechnic blasts, eventually breaking out a guitar and riffing for the world to see. Watch the video after the jump!Rihanna, who shot to fame with R&B hits like 'Umbrella' and the newer 'So Hard,' takes a swift turn toward rock in '101,' which features Slash of Guns N Roses fame on the recorded version.
"To be what you is / You gotta be what you are / The only thing I'm missing / Is a black guitar," Rihanna sings in one verse, likely not just declaring her independence, but sending a message to the 'Idol' hopefuls watching her from backstage.

I do not know what anyone else was watching but that performance was terrible! She can not sing and the song was awful too!

I couldn't agree more. I am not a fan of hers and from what I seen I am surprised she has a fan base. I thought her whole performance stunk badly. HEAH BABY I'M A ROCK STAR that was really poor and I mean everything about it, just terrible.
Rhianna says she's a rock star and fakey plays a sleek guitar to make us buy it?? Houston, we have a problem. . .
Her performance was absolutely terrible last night. No talent whatsoever. The only thing worse was the guy who performed before her. American Idol really has to work on getting better performers for elimination nights. They should at the very least have more talent than the contestants.

I thought her performance was horrible, though I enjoyed the the guy before her, can't remember his name though. Rhianna admitted in an interview that she was sqeezing in her performance on AI, which was very demanding, especially since she is soooo busy traveling. I don't like this new Rhianna

Watched the beginning of Rhihanna's terrible performance and quickly change station to watch the ballgame turned it back to Idol when she was finished terrible terrible

Yeah, I wasn't a fan either. I have to admire her ambition, trying to score with what can only be described as a hip-hop/goth crossover - but it absolutely didn't work. I'm not sure how those two genres could EVER work together. It was just plain weird.

My family and I thought it was horrible and didn't get it at all. She looked amazing but that's as far as it goes. Honestly, she's not very talented to be such a diva.

Do want a performance that will blow your mind. Go see After Midnight Project on Warped Tour. This band does not dissapoint. They are dynamic, entertaining,and talented. I have seen them around 100 times or more; I hsave never been dissapointed. This is one of the best bands around.

This article blows. First off, she was lipsincing and was terrible at it. The song is terrible. She should have done Rude Boy. Also, she looked liked Dionne Warwick at her current age. That ugly hair-do has to go. (Don't get me wrong, love Dionne Warwick). Although she has had several hits, she is not that great of a singer.
