James Van Der Beek, girlfriend expecting baby

It's time for diaper duty. 'Dawson's Creek' star James Van Der Beek and girlfriend Kimberly Brook are expecting their first child together this fall.

"Yes, it's true -- the woman I love and I are expecting our first child... currently experiencing joy on levels I never knew existed," he wrote on Twitter.

The couple met last July. Van Der Beek and ex-wife Heather Ann McComb split in April 2009.

Van Der Beek is currently starring in NBC's new medical drama 'Mercy'.

Last week, Van Der Beek and his ex-wife finalized their divorce settlement in Los Angeles. His ex-wife will be getting $7,750 per month until December 2012, according to PEOPLE.

The couple separated last April after being married since the summer of 2003. They have no children together.

why do these hollyweird types insist on bragging about having babies out of wedlock. whatever happened to love then marriage...THEN a baby carriage.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Aren't they glad their Dad married Mom? Why don't they want the same for their children? It's not like they are going to get out of paying for anything for the rest of their lives. How about letting the kid know that you wanted to make a family, not a quick escape, by making your baby's mama your wife.

it's not a new Phenomenon it's gone on in hollywood for more than 5 decades including some oscar winners so you can't fault them congrats to James and his girlfriend Kimberly on the impending arrival of their first child Newman & Woodward for instance granted they had three daughters after their first loss now 51 49 in september and 45 in 11 days plus his two daughters from his first marriage aged 57 and 56 yeah that be Susan Stephanie Elinore "Nell" Melissa "Lissy" and Claire "Clea"

I never watched Dawson's Creek...thank goodness! But, I hope JVDB's new little bastard will turn out healthy and happy. That's about all the Hollywood crowd is good for any way.
