Artist Mike Mitchell (alias: the 'I'm With Coco' guy) is in an enviable position -- his viral image is the star of a promo for Conan O'Brien's return to television on TBS, and he's seen rehearsals of Coco's comedy show, set to debut tonight in Eugene, Oregon.
"There's a lot of stuff that caters to people that liked the 'Late Night' show. There's really nothing from 'The Tonight Show' in it. It goes back to old-school Conan. I think his fans will be really happy," Mitchell tells PopEater. The artist met O'Brien after his image was commissioned as an official stamp of the 'Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour.'
Mitchell attended one rehearsal and one full-on dress rehearsal in Los Angeles, tweeting his excitement. "I don't want to spoil anything, but it's really good. Really funny, really entertaining," he says.
Read on for Mitchell's reaction to the new TBS promo.
"I just watched it. It's pretty crazy," Mitchell says of the TBS promo (above) appearing in tandem with news of Conan's move to an 11 PM show on the network this November. "They bought the rights to use that image for TV promotional stuff as well as Internet use, but I had no idea about this."
Mitchell adds that 'I'm With Coco' is "all over the tour."
Where could the graphic go next, after spreading like wildfire across the Web and now taking the spotlight for a TV promotion?
"I don't know... where hasn't it been? Urinal cakes?" Mitchell jokes. "After May, Conan can actually start using his own image on stuff, so who knows. But right now it's the go-to -- 'We can't show Conan's face, let's just use this.' They've really taken a liking to it, and it's been good for me."

From what reports have been saying, George Lopez called Conan personally to sell him on the idea. Conan's camp apparently turned the idea down initially because they didn't want to shove Lopez aside.
