Elizabeth Taylor Won't Wed for Ninth Time, She Says

If you spent the weekend celebrating the joyous news of Elizabeth Taylor's upcoming marriage -- lucky number nine for the eternal showbiz fixture -- we have sad news for you: It just ain't true.

"The rumors regarding my engagement simply aren't true," Liz, 78, tweeted today. "Jason is my manager and dearest friend. I love him with all my heart."

"Jason" is Taylor's manager, Jason Winters, a man nearly three decades her junior at age 49.

"It's no secret that they've been together forever and are in love, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they were engaged," an insider told Us Weekly last week. "Right now, they are keeping it between them."

It's still unclear whether Taylor and Winters are an item. She told Variety's Liz Smith in 2007, "Jason is one of the most wonderful men I've ever known and that's why I love him. He bought us the most beautiful house in Hawaii and we visit it as often as possible."

Hmm.

The Oscar-winning actress has been married eight times to seven men (twice to Richard Burton). Her last union -- a five-year marriage to construction worker Larry Fortensky -- ended in 1996.

SHOCKING!!!! You mean La Liz, Elizabeth isnt going to marry a gay guy? DUH. If she was actually engaged her children should have taken her to Betty Ford ... ELIZABETH TAYLOR, unlike Liza Minelli, has children that insure the well being of their Mother. (La Liz actually is a good parent and she has EXCELlENT CARING children)

I am a fan of Elizabeth Taylor's and always have been. I am in favor of anything that makes this great lady happy. None of us have a right to give advice or judge this successful career woman. She lives a wonderful and successful life and I wish her more of the same.

So what if she marries again. Maybe she does not believe in living with someone without the benefit of marriage. So what is he is 28 years younger. If she were a man nothing would be said about the age difference. Let her live out the rest of her life as she sees fit. Go la Liz!

Even if she does love him, marriage isn't necessary. I'm glad to be reading this anyway, because the tabloids have her on her way out. Evidently "The reports of[her] death are greatly exaggerated".

Bebe, are you kidding? She was the biggest husband stealer in Hollywood. Benefit of marriage? You don't marry eight times and believe in the benefit of marriage. You believe in the benefits of publicity.

Still, she should not marry him because he's only trying to ride her coattails into a fortune of tabloid coverage.
