School's Out: Zac Efron to Play Drug Smuggler

'High School Musical' star Zac Efron is abandoning his squeaky-clean image to tackle the role of a cocaine smuggler in Warner Bros.' upcoming film 'Snabba.' The Disney heartthrob has snagged the lead role and a producer credit on the remake of Swedish thriller 'Snabba Cash.'

Efron has made a name for himself as a clean-living teen idol, with starring roles in family fare like the 'High School Musical' trilogy, '17 Again' and 'Hairspray,' but like many child stars before him, he's ready to break free from the cookie-cutter mold.

Disney stars' acts of rebellion have been particularly well-documented by the press, from Hilary Duff's spread in Maxim to the leaked naked photos of Efron's 'HSM' co-star and girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens.

'Snabba,' based on the first installment of Jens Lapidus' 'Stockholm Noir Trilogy,' will be Efron's debut as a producer.

Yeah, well Hollywood likes to typecast their actors...and when Zac played Troy Bolton, he kept him in character. His other roles and mannerisims were nothing like the Troy Bolton character...and in seeing this you know that's good acting....Hollywood needs to lift up the veil because they obviously don't allow themselves to see through it. Zac will be great for this role. After seeing a preview of the Swedish version...I hope Zac's role will be even more beefier and he'll have a great supporting cast to help make the movie a success and a number one film to watch.
