Ryan Seacrest Keeps 'Idol' Contestant from Quitting

Overwhelmed by the stress and pressure of being on 'American Idol,' contestant Crystal Bowersox threatened to walk off the show. 'Idol' host Ryan Seacrest stepped in and had a quick heart-to-heart with her in the show's parking lot, TMZ reports.

Sources claim Bowersox told him she couldn't handle the competition and didn't like all the media attention and threatened to move back to Ohio to be with her family.

Luckily, Seacrest convinced the 'Idol' hopeful to stick it out. He pushed the fact that if she won she'd get a recording contract and become a millionaire. Guess that was enough to make her stay.

According to TMZ, Seacrest told her, "The greatest thing I ever did was make enough money so I could buy my mom a house. You can buy your mom a house."

Agree it is getting old. I haven't watch for a few years now. Being on this show is differant then when you go out and record on your own. If a record label wants her she will be fine, look at Daughtry. The only Idol winners that are noticed are Kelly and Carrie. Try to to hang in there, but if not so be it. Leaving Idol will not ruin your career.

CRYSTAL ROCKS! Though I would be sad to see her leave, she has a bright future ahead of her. Seems that the runners-up are much more likely to succeed: JENNIFER HUDSON, DAUGHTRY, ADAM LAMBERT, CLAY AIKEN. Crystal doesn't need the title!

CRYSTAL has been my choice from her audition tape! I hope she finds the courage to hang on. She IS THE ONLY REASON I turn on AI.

After this season I won't be watching. NOT because Simon is leaving, but because the producers,etc., brought Adam Lambert (who is disgusting) on as a MENTOR. REALLY? They bring on music ICONS, like Stevie Wonder and they think Adam Lambert, an over sexed exhibitionist who happens to have a good voice and knows theatrics MEASURES UP? Turned my stomach...

Not sure if you realized that the votings and ratings were higher because Adam Lambert was on the show this past week. He had every right to be a mentor.

You are an idiot. I personally could not stand Adam last year at the begining because he acted like such a fairy. But after I heard him sing I was shocked. That dude has serious talent.Gotta give him props. HE DESERVED TO WIN LAST YEAR!!!!!

Adam Lambert was the ONLY reason I watched this week..he is so entertaining.....I think it was the right idea for Idol..I would not be surprised if we saw a spike in viewership this week BECAUSE of Adam...I know my family only watched it to see Adam again....this year is so boring, Adam could only bring it back to life....

Yup, she rocks! Great sound and the only American Idol contestant in the 9 seasons that i would actually go out and buy her recordings from right now if she had one out. Best pure sound I have heard watching this show. A natural as much as Carol King and Bonnie Raite. Even a Janis Joplin sound that is all from the heart. All of the others except for Karrie Underwood have been forgetable.

I don't even believe this happened. Crystal hasn't even spoken to her mom (an abusive alcoholic) in three years. Why would Ryan bring up buying a house for her mom when he surely knows that? It would have pushed her over the edge if it happened, but I'm sure it didn't. I read Crystal's tweets and keep up with her facebook page, she has never once indicated she didn't want to be there and she's very frank in the things she says. More made up crap from Idol to try and recover their ratings? Hummmm.

I'm not much of a Seacrest guy, but I give him credit for convincing Crystal to stay. She is head and shoulders above the rest of the others. I hope she gets over her fear of all the media hype, because it's the price she's gonna have to pay if she wants to make it as a star. Glad that Ryan convinced her that she could give her son anything he needs and wants and her family if she wins. Heck, she doesn't even need to win since she's so good! She's probably already got a record deal in place and will have the better career than the winner, just like last year when Kris may have won, but Adam will have the bigger career.

Give her back her bong and she'll be just fine. The last 2 weeks has put a strain on everybody including our ears. But by far, Lee and Casey are clearly better performers then anybody currently on Idol. Adam Lambert didn't help anybody thats for certain.

Nothing wrong with a bong. I think they will all make it to the very end.

Crystal is a good singer but does the same thing week after week
not the entertainer that represents American Idol.

Even though Simon pushes the vote week after week for her and does his best to cancel the others on her behalf. It is so obvious how he like to send mixed messages to the others to play with their minds.
I think he has ruined the show this year.

She's the only one I would actually buy a CD of. Hands down the most creative on the show. Casey a distant 2nd.
