Ryan Seacrest Keeps 'Idol' Contestant from Quitting

Overwhelmed by the stress and pressure of being on 'American Idol,' contestant Crystal Bowersox threatened to walk off the show. 'Idol' host Ryan Seacrest stepped in and had a quick heart-to-heart with her in the show's parking lot, TMZ reports.

Sources claim Bowersox told him she couldn't handle the competition and didn't like all the media attention and threatened to move back to Ohio to be with her family.

Luckily, Seacrest convinced the 'Idol' hopeful to stick it out. He pushed the fact that if she won she'd get a recording contract and become a millionaire. Guess that was enough to make her stay.

According to TMZ, Seacrest told her, "The greatest thing I ever did was make enough money so I could buy my mom a house. You can buy your mom a house."

Crystal may not want the fame if she wins American Idol.
"another scandal waiting to happen maybe" She has nothing to do with her family in ohio. Her past will not be a good play for Idol
what she is feeling is not for her family but selfish reasons

i think she is an absolutely WONDERFUL singer and would hate to see her go .... it kinda reminds me of the old saying, "be careful what you wish for .." i wish her the best, regardless.

Crystal is very talented. But being a diabetic is tricky, i know, and if you're not ready for stardom, stress can make your diabetes worse. I am pulling for Siobhan. Because i like her better. Just a preference.

Pleeease, she is not a little girl. Very talanted and unique. I think that Ryan may have over dramatized this. I don't believe that she said she was actually going to quit. It just turned it around to "start" a can of worms.

Well I do believe that Crystal is awesome and she can sing but if she is having trouble with the pressure then why would you even sign up ???? and what will happen if she wins???? Personally I love LEE he is awesome he has a voice that I could listen to over and over.... But if she wanted to go, then she should of left, I mean if you don't want more for yourself in life and for your son then that is just sad

So much is in perspective. I still scratch my head when I hear "doesn't like the media attention" from certain stars and would-be's. There's no scandal here. It's a little like saying someone "doesn't like the fact that so many people love her talents." It was so fun voting for Adam last year because he was so grateful. With a voting show, part of the fun is feeling like you're helping someone achieve their big dream. Maybe he'd have some luck talking to her?

I think if Crystal Bowersox can hang in there even though it seems the stress of the whole show thing does get to her at times with the health issues, she is a sure bet to win it at this point. She is the only contestant on there who I look forward to actually hearing, and when she is on I stop what I'm doing to listen to her. Keep going Crystal!

None of these contestants deserve a win. The is the most untalented year. I think Crystal is probably the most talented, but I don't care for the tone of her voice. In my opinion, Lee probably has the most potential if he would realize it!

From the start of every season you could pick out your favorites and be "awed" by them weekly, but this year it's been mostly a disappointment.

She's great, but Lee is by far more interesting .I can listen to him over and over and over,he made fireflies sound better than the original I love him!!!!Crystal has that awesome Janis Joplin going for her, but in reality.... it sounds great, but not very many people are gonna go running to the store to buy her music.Lee is more todays kind of artist.Shioban was doing awesome for awhile but when they critisized her screaming and she stopped ...she seems boring now.

I think Crystal should quit if she wants to. Let someone who wants to be the American Idol have the "crown." If she can't handle the pressure of the show, she will never be able to handle the stress of a mult-city tour, constant press interviews, meet and greets with the fans, and the intense schedule that a multi-city tour entails. That schedule is tough on the strongest contestants, and if she is frail in body and mind, she will not survive the tour. She doesn't appear to be cut out for the intense schedule and scrutiny that this show thrusts on its winners. Or, maybe this is all a ploy by the Idol "machine" to create intereest in a dull season.

Crystal is the most original singer and person Idol has ever had. She is being herself and not willing to change for anyone, and I admire her for that! When she first auditioned, I said she will win and I still believe she will win with her originality including her dreads! She by far has the best voice and is on target every single week. Congrats to you Crystal for being who you are with that fantastic voice!
