Daniel Radcliffe to Sing and Dance on Broadway
Daniel Radcliffe is returning to Broadway, but instead of showing full frontal nudity, like he did in his stage debut, this time he'll sing and dance. The star of the 'Harry Potter' movies will appear in a revival of 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,' opening in spring 2011.
Radcliffe will portray Finch, the show's unlikely hero, an opportunistic young man who rises from the mail room to the top of the corporate heap in the satiric, Pulitzer Prize-winning musical. It features a score by Frank Loesser and a book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert.
"Finch's unorthodox and morally questionable business practices jeopardize not only his career but also his romance with secretary Rosemary Pilkington," producers said.
Producers said Thursday the musical will be directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford. First seen on Broadway in 1961 (with Robert Morse in the lead role), 'How to Succeed' was revived in 1995 starring Matthew Broderick.
Radcliffe made his Broadway debut in 2008 in a revival of 'Equus,' in which he famously got naked. He's currently busy filming the eighth and final film in the 'Potter' series and has yet to issue a statement on the casting.

Is this going to be a period musical, that is, set in 1961?... I'm glad for Daniel, he's really working beyond Harry Potter, not staggering around in the gutter outside the Viper Room...

It's a "revival" of a musical which was originally produced in 1961. There was a revival once before, sometime in the 1990s.
most of the big plays on broadway seem to be Revivals Chicago Grease A Little Night Music Cats Les Miserables and others and besides this is his second time on broadway not his first equous was his first so he knows how demanding 8 shows a week is of course the last major star to be Tony nominated for a big revival on broadway was Paul Newman in 2003 for playing the stage manager in Our Town which that revival opened on BWay December 4th 2002 and closed on Paul's 78th birthday January 26th 2003 59 peformances and 15 previews later of course the first time he'd appeared on Broadway was as an understudy in the 1953 production of Picnic where he met his second wife Joanne Woodward who executive produced that production of Our Town

I love Daniel Ratcliff. He is a good actor and pretty well balanced for someone who started acting as a child. And Harry Potter is a hard act to follow. Kudos to you Daniel

Why is that the writer of the Harry Potter's series insisted that the actors and actresses of the movies' series be from Britain and she got that request met. While movies and plays based on American's character are not played by American actors.
