Jay Leno: Conan O'Brien Will Be 'Great' on TBS

Jay Leno has finally commented on Conan O'Brien's move to TBS.

"I knew he'd land on his feet," the host of 'The Tonight Show,' told Access Hollywood.

"It'll be fun. Everybody will compete," he added, since Conan and Jon Stewart air at 11 and he and David Letterman go on at 11:35.

"I think he'll be great. He's a very funny guy," Jay said of his former NBC colleague.

But the comedian minced words a bit when asked what he thought about Conan moving from network to cable television. "I didn't know what to think. I mean, well, FOX is network but they have cable too, so, you know, it's all sort of the same now. Everybody sort of reaches the same thing, but I think it's exciting. I think he'll do well."

Leno and O'Brien were caught in the middle of a late-night war. NBC's failed experiment that brought Jay to primetime and put Conan on 'The Tonight Show' ultimately lead to O'Brien leaving the peacock network when they gave Leno his old job back.

If you believe Lopez really gave Conan his blessings you would believe anything.Lopez is not a cry baby like Conan and thought of the people that depend on his show for a job unlike Conan.

NBC made the mistake of all mistakes by giving Leno a variety/talk show - one hour before (and leading into)Conan's new "Tonight Show" gig. They messed up Conan's chances for success because many people figured that they'd already got their early "Tonight Show" like fix from Leno. It took Leno a year or more to find his fan base/niche,and this didn't happen over night. Conan was robbed of the chance to establish his own audience thanks to the NBC executives and Jay's bright idea to put "Leno" on before O'Brien's chance at the helm of the old franchise.Just as Conan's Tonight Show was starting to get up to speed, NBC and Leno yanked the carpet out from under Conan's feet, along with his staff, who moved from New York to LA. Now the Tonight Show's ratings are in the toilet. They should have just let Leno retire as agreed and Conan would have done great as the new host. Both NBC and Jay Leno screwed up and now both have pie on their collective faces...

Conan was/is not funny. Since the viewers went over to Letterman, the network HAD to do something to salvage their ratings and that meant dumping their dead weight. George Lopez was robbed.

Couldn't Care Less! NBC is not even broadcast here in Missouri. The only thing I miss is Saturday Night Live. All these phony shenanigsns are just feeble attempts at publicity.
Since Johnny Carson died, there has not been any more funny people around. Let's hear it for the reruns!

You are all wrong about Leno. He's a nice guy who wouldn't stab anybody in the back. It was all the network's idea to change the Tonight Show. Jay was no fool when they offered it back to him.

Jay Leno back stabbed a good friend. You don't do that to people if you have integrity and are an honest person. When he said he wanted a 10:oo p.m. show that paved the way for the the downfall of Conan O'Brien. Conan is hilarius and is so witty. Johnny Carson would have NEVER done that to a friend. Most people around the world wouldn't have done that to a friend. I don't know how Jay Leno can honestly look himself in the mirror and not realize what he did not only to Conan but to his WHOLE STAFF that moved out to California. Jay's ratings were in the toilet when he got started and Hugh Grant made his infamous appearance after his arrest. Conan took the high road. Jay took the LOW ROAD AND I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THAT MAN IS OFF THE T.V. Watch out Jay Leno-Karma has a way of sticking it to people.

Jay knows coner will be a thud in his new show just like the rest of us know. He was being polite when he said he would do good. How good could he posibly do when we all know noone will watch him. He will join the ranks of the rest of the hasbeens and neer weres( lenimin, jim gemmel and the other dozen or so who have tried and failed because of a huge lack of talent. Jay will ALWAYS be the LATE NITE KING.
