Oksana Grigorieva Confirms Split With Mel Gibson, But 'No One Dumped Anyone'

The unexpected news that Mel Gibson had split with the mother of his youngest child has been confirmed by Oksana Grigorieva, who appeared in front of cameras for the first time since breakup reports surfaced last week. During a press conference in Moscow on Monday to announce a charity concert, the Russian pianist told reporters, "I can tell you that we have split up, suddenly and recently. Unfortunately, I cannot give you the reason. But you will find out everything quite soon."

According to a report in Us magazine, Grigorieva continued, "Here is the official version: We split up by mutual consent and we will raise our daughter together. She is currently with my mother in my Los Angeles home."

Grigorieva and Gibson, 54, are the parents of 5-month-old Lucia.

"No one dumped anyone," a source said of the breakup. "It's all very friendly."

Gibson and Grigorieva made headlines across the world when their affair led Robyn Gibson -- Mel's wife of nearly 30 years and mother of seven of his children -- to file for divorce in April of 2009. Upon announcing the divorce, the couple released a statement, saying, "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so."

Just a month after the divorce papers were filed, the new couple announced that they were expecting, and soon after revealed that they were engaged. A wedding date was never publicly announced.

Grigorieva has a son with former 'James Bond' star Timothy Dalton. She is a Russian model and musician who released an album in the summer of 2009.

That is because he was thinking with "lust". lust doesn't last forever. Then again after being in a long term marriage "love" changes, matures, and evolves. Marriage is work, the good the bad & the ugly are all part of it. It is full of ups & down's, and some couples somehow endure and others don't. With the legal system the way it is today many couples choose divorce rather than counseling or toughing out the rough patches. I'm not saying that is wrong for them, but for me the hard work is definitely worth the payoff.

Yeah, 30 years and 7 children later, she dumped him cause she's a money loving gold digger ... PAHLEEZ! Listen, we all know Mel is no day at the beach with his alcoholism, anti-semitism,etc. Let's not treat his wife with disrespect after all she's put into the marriage. It's not like she hung out for a couple of years and is looking for 50% of everything he's got. At her age it's not easy to start over, especially with all those kids. Give her a break.

HA HA Did anyone ever think Mel was anything but an idiot? Fooled you huh. This guy is a full-blown active alcoholic, and he just get more disgusting as time goes on. I just don't fathom how a woman in her right mind could ever think of him as attractive, and couple that with the booze, he is someone to walk away from, quickly and with finality. While I do believe she is probably a user, except for one of his children, all of them are adults. I always find it interesting how a woman can manage not getting pregnant for so long and then all of sudden their birth control doesn't work. Unless, of course, she and Mel decided to have a child together. I'm sure he missed quite a few activities with his other children when his career was at its peak. Men seem to have the luxury of recapturing fatherhood with younger women. Women, on the other hand, have to use surrogacy or other medical interventions in order to recapture their desire for motherhood.

BOTH of them proceeded with a relationship knowing what they were doing to his existing family. However, she is not an innocent "victim"....more like a star chaser. She now has two children from two different famous fathers.

Since when is 54 all that old. Most of the big stars of Hollywood were in their 50's and older when they were their sexiest and most popular.
