Conan the Destroyer? O'Brien Versus George Lopez

Where there's jokes, there's fire.
Little more than a week after TBS
announced a deal to give funnyman Conan O'Brien its 11 PM time slot,
reports have surfaced that displaced host
George Lopez is not as pleased as his PR might suggest to be bumped to midnight.
The New York Post's
Page Six column quoted an anonymous source stating that Lopez was unhappy about being moved, and that
TBS had threatened not to renew his contract if he didn't play along.
That source also told the column: "The Lopez camp is even more disheartened by the fact that Conan's contract states that if Lopez's show is canceled, then Conan will be able to develop a show for the midnight hour, as well ... it's in Conan's best interest for Lopez's show to fail."
While the item was denied by all parties, ("false and fabricated," said Lopez's rep, echoing TBS's "completely untrue") it would explain the public graciousness on Lopez's part, which, at the very least, raised eyebrows. Using a Papal analogy, the
Washington Post suggested that Conan had "kiss[ed] Lopez's ring."
The Conan-Lopez charm offensive began with a TMZ item titled
'Conan Treats Lopez with Royal Respect.' While TMZ's enviable reputation for accuracy adds weight to the love-shack version, the item failed to mention that 'Lopez Tonight' and TMZ are corporate siblings under the Warner Bros.-owned production company
Telepictures. 'Lopez Tonight' has also been a major advertiser on TMZ.com. (AOL and PopEater also have a lingering corporate relationship with TMZ as a result of the AOL-Time Warner merger and divorce.)
Skepticism about Lopez's true feelings was expressed in the Hollywood trade media almost immediately after Conan's TBS deal was announced, although no alleged specifics surfaced until the Page Six item.
This Hollywood Reporter piece from April 13 recalled Lopez lobbing some zingers at Conan as his '
Tonight Show' deal was falling apart at NBC, and marveling that "a Mexican talk-show host would have the most job security in town."
Which, as it turned out, didn't last long.

Why would anyone want to TBS and Conan when you can just watch Jay Leno. Maybe after smoking some crack I could see some humors in Conan's show.

Really? you think jay leno is funny? sounds like you already have a crack problem. that un-funny hack couldn't hold conan's jock strap.

And you know He wears ONE. .?????
YOU OUR HIM.
Geoge Lopez IS better they all.
So that's the second time Conan has pushed a successful talk show host out of his spot...to get what he wanted. I am not surprised. Anyone that 5 years ago told NBC that he wouldn't re-sign his contract unless he was promised the Tonight Show down the road - which was already doing very well with Jay Leno...shows me he has very few scruples.
He had no qualms pushing Jay out of his spot and now he is doing the same thing with Geoge Lopez. And Leno and Lopez are suppposed to be the bad guys? Not buying it.

Didn't Conan just agree with TBS to do to Lopez what CoCo and his crazed fans were accusing Leno of doing to him? You couldn't pay me to watch Conan. I'm back with Jay and happy he's home.

Conan is disgusting and revolting. I can't believe TBS didn't get the hint with Conan failing at NBC. Lopez has a lot of loyal fans and the majority of that fan base will not care for Conan's so-called "humor." Hopefully this will be disastrous for TBS.

Glad for Leno's return. I just didn't find Coco worth watching.I can't see Lopez fans to thrilled by this move.I am alright with the fact that the Coco fans have their man back. We all need humor in our lives.

I don't care for Lopez much but absolutely hate Coco...sooo not funny at all. I hope he fails miserably & Lopez keeps his numbers up! I think this whole Conan thing is disgusting. Who is he paying off or bonking??
