Chris Colfer: 'Glee' Is Sweet Revenge for High School

The beatific cast of 'Glee' had a party on Saturday -- the wrap party for season two, to be precise. We got this classified intel speaking to
Chris Colfer (aka Kurt Hummel), who called in between takes this weekend.
The baby of the cast -- he's not yet 20 -- chatted about his high school experience, his best friend on 'Glee' and what song he most wants the gang to perform.
Do you do karaoke at 'Glee' parties?
We do sometimes, but I really hate it because Amber and Kevin turn it into a concert.
You're the youngest on the set. Do the others baby you?
No! Not at all -- I think the exact opposite. I baby them. It's really funny because we'll all plan to go out somewhere and then we'll realize that I can't go because I'm 19 and I can't get into a club.
Do you get lots of fan mail?
Not too much hard mail, but I get thousands and thousands of messages on Facebook. I try to answer some; I do maybe one in a hundred. I wish I could do more but we're so busy. I think my inbox on Facebook has like 35,000 unread messages. It would take me a good weekend to go through them.
Any song you're dying to do on 'Glee'?
I've been really fortunate in that I've been able to do every dream song I wanted to do, like 'Defying Gravity' and 'Rose's Turn.' I would love the glee club to do 'The Time Warp.'
Who is your bestie from the show?
Probably Amber Riley. We hang out and have movie nights and order pizza or sushi. We have the exact same taste in movies.
You were on the debate team in high school. Is it hard to win an argument against you?
Um, I think so. They've dubbed me the smart one in the cast. I think I'm more of the smart ass. I always have very good points to arguments or debates that we get into.

Did you go straight from high school to 'Glee'?
I was actually in college when I got the show and had to drop out. I hadn't decided what I wanted to do. I either wanted to become a screenwriter or a drama teacher.
Were you in glee club in school?
I was in choir. We didn't have a glee club, but I've been a part of so many song and dance things through my short life. It seems to follow me wherever I go.
So you must really relate. Did you get picked on?
I 100 percent relate, and yes, I absolutely got picked on every day. By people I didn't even know. It wasn't a very good time for me. I never got food thrown at me, but I got Post-it notes stuck on my back.
Isn't the show the greatest revenge?
Yes, and it's almost like silent revenge. You know it's out there but you don't have to do anything. It does it all for itself. That's wonderful for me because I'm not a forgive-and-forget type person. It's good to know that the nyah-nyah-nyah factor is out there, and I don't have to make a comment about it.
What are your plans this summer?
Go to Europe and do some press for the show. I can't wait; I'm so excited. I've never been, and I've wanted to go since I was two-and-a-half and realized that's where all the castles are. I really want to go the U.K., France and the Black Forest in Germany.
Why the Black Forest?
That's where the Brothers Grimm lived when they wrote their fairy tales. I just want to get lost in the forest and meet a witch or two.

He has so much talente. The best young actor in glee, that's for sure. Not to mention he is a beautiful human being.

Never seen it..i've HEARD about it. So this just another version of "high school musical"? I guess some of the teenieboppers need yet another fix or "reality"...huh? LOL
Reply
Yeah, you've obviously not seen it.
It's not just for kids - Glee has a huge adult following. It's a fantastic show... WAY beyond High School Musical and much funnier.
No way it is totally different in high school musical they burst out into song at the wierdest points and in glee they only sing during practice except one time but . . .oh well.
hmm. wasn't it a wrap party for the back nine episodes of season 1? because they don't start filming season 2 until after the glee tour, right?

How about an ABBA episode of Glee. A little history less for the club?

totally that would be awesome!!!!
Europe really wouldn't he rather go to Asia like I don't know in the Philippines:))))

Does anybody know if that is his real voice that he uses on Glee? It sounds like a phony voice to me because nobody I know has a speaking voice that sounds like 'falsetto'. That is my one pet peeve that I have with him. He doesn't sound real.
Reply
yes. that is definitely his voice...
i looooooove glee but i dont ever get to watch. . .

I'm so glad he won. I crossed my fingers. I would've been his friend in highschool. He's funny and nice. And his cuteness is just a bonus. :)
