'Dancing With the Stars' Worries About Ratings After Kate Gosselin

Her high kicks left much to be desired, but TV mom Kate Gosselin brought another asset to this season of 'Dancing With the Stars' -- a reliable ratings boost. Sources tell me ABC execs are worried sick that viewers might change the channel since the ballroom's most controversial dancer has gone back to her brood. Details on Kate's network appeal, plus Betty White's secret for making friends at 'SNL' -- after the jump.

Dancing Without the Star

Kate Gosselin failed to impress the judges -- or the audience -- during her time on 'Dancing With the Stars,' but ABC knows Kate's clumsy moves were a sure ratings draw.

"No doubt people were turning in each week to see what Kate would do next," an insider tells me. "If she wasn't fighting with her dance partner, Tony, she was fighting with the judges. Kate might be someone that we love to hate, but she is great TV."

Nervous executives will be watching the numbers carefully this week to see if the show remains red hot without Kate. If it doesn't, may I suggest a recount?

Betty White Sweetens the Deal at 'SNL'

Just when you thought Betty White couldn't get any more adorable, sources tell me the host of next week's 'Saturday Night Live' showed up today at 30 Rock... with a cheesecake for the cast and crew.

"Betty is from the old school. The one thing she learned from 'The Golden Girls' is that everything is better with cheesecake," a friend tells me. "She already has the cast eating out of her hand. They think she is one of the funniest, most talented people they have ever met -- and they love that Betty has told them nothing is off limits for her."

We're already excited for Betty's special May 8 Mother's Day episode. Betty, you're an 88-year-old firecracker worthy of cutting short date night.

I don't think it is fair when they get poeple who have dance experience (Nicole) and put them up againt people who are really trying to learn from scratch. It is not fair. Niclole should never have been asked to do this show. Of course the same could be said about Donny Osmond last year. I feel bad for the stars that are really trying to learn and do not have the advantage of having danced before. If Nicole wins I will not watch this show anymore!

The exec's don't have a single thing to worry about as far as their ratings are concerned. The name of the show is Dancing with the stars. Kate was and never will be a star, and for people putting down Nicole, she is what the show is about, STARS.
Doesn't matter what made them a star, the simple fact is if they are a star then they have every right to be on the show. The misconception with Kate is she was on reality tv, which isn't star material oriented, if it were then every out of work actor would be on their own reality show. Glad Kate is gone, she should have been first and they should bring Shannon back as it was totally unfair that she was off and Kate who couldn't dance a step was on. DWTS needs to change their voting, people don't vote for the best dancer or the most improved, unless of course the votes really are "fixed".

It was definitely time for Kate to go. She couldn't dance worth a dime. Also , way too much drama and crying. I certainly won't stop watcging it cause she's gone. I enjoy the show. Glad Buzz is gone, got really sick of all his patronizing patriotism.

Now that she's OFF and I no longer have to see, listen or hear about her, I might actually watch. Not a hater she just holds no interest for me.

DWTS was once an entertaining program but has now dropped into the gutter of the usual rubbish TV stations want to sell us. Gosselin, on account of her lack of talent and obnoxious personality, became a draw and little more. If these stations appeal to the ghoul in us, they succeed for a while. DWTS should now get the boot as Gosselin has; it has become the inane judging the hopeless.

Glad she is gone. I am sick of her she thinks she is somebody because she has 8 cute kids. She wanted the kids how was she going to support them if she didnt get TLC to help? Shw says she cant go back to being a nurse because it doesnt pay enough.Well if you didnt live in 1.5 millon dollar house and worked and lived like other people supporting large families than I might feel sorry for her. I used to watch Jon and Kate but never again to much feel sorry for me. Maybe Jon should be on DWTS next (just kidding). Give the Nannies a break and take care of your kids when you are HOME and no bodyguard that will save money.

If ABC is so worried about Kate G why don't they put her on ABC and pay her millions of dollars for her talent..... Oh wait. She doesn;t have a talent.... What an insulting headline to the other dancers... Believe me ABC I FF through every minute of KG.. Don't insult me either.

Over 20 million people watched Monday's DWTS. ABC executives didn't have anything to worry about. Loyal fans were not watching to see Kate Gosselin dance. We were watching to see the "stars" dance.

She should have been the first voted off. Shannon Dougherty was a MUCH better dancer than Kate. Glad she is finally off. I did not like her attitude AND she could not dance. I was begining to wonder if the show was fixed.
