Katie Holmes to Play Jackie O

Katie Holmes is preparing for a role she seems destined to play -- iconic first lady Jacqueline Kennedy.

The actress has signed on to star in 'The Kennedys,' an eight-hour mini series premiering in 2011 on the History Channel, according to Access Hollywood.

She will star alongside Greg Kinnear, who will play John F. Kennedy, and Tom Wilkinson, who will play father Joe Kennedy, in the project. Barry Pepper will play the role of Robert Kennedy.

The series will focus on the Kennedy family -- a glamorous story that ended in tragedy for John and Robert, who were killed by gunmen. Jacqueline went on to marry Greek millionaire Aristotle Onassis, earning the nickname "Jackie O."

Holmes has a smile like the former first lady, and a similar sense of fine clothing. Actress Jeanne Tripplehorn recently depicted Jacqueline Kennedy on the small screen in HBO's 2009 flick 'Grey Gardens.'

What about Katie being in the movie with Diane Keaton (something about money, I believe). I only saw some previews with her "starring" & I thought she was awful & because of that, I didn't bother renting th movie.

Tony: Right on brother!! I'm sure Tom was very instrumental in obtaining that role for her. In the article it says that Katie has a fine taste in clothing (like Jackie), Geez and I always thought it was about whether or not they could act.

Ive been watching her since Dawsons Creek. She has ALWAYS had that weird half lip smile...I thought it was odd back then and its just a lot more obvious now bc she in the spotlight more. She probably can't help it.Its like one half of her lips refuses to move when she smiles!lol!
