Sandra Bullock has dropped a different kind of bombshell than her estranged husband, Jesse James.
The Oscar-winning actress reveals to PEOPLE that in January she adopted a boy from New Orleans.
Her newborn son, Louis Bardo Bullock, is three months old. She and James began the adoption process four years ago, before becoming parents earlier this year. His name was chosen because Bullock heard Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World' when she first met the baby boy.
The couple decided to keep the news to themselves until after the Oscars. "I did not want him brought into a world that would not have been too sincere to him as I wanted. I wanted to be alone with him as long as I could then we had to tell his story," she said, MSNBC reports.
Unfortunately, just days after Bullock took home her trophy, James' many affairs came to light. The actress says she is now adopting as a single parent and is divorcing her husband, according to PEOPLE.
"Yes, I have filed for divorce," she told the magazine, adding that she is "sad and scared" about it.
James' reaction to the divorce has left a "huge hole" in his heart especially because Bullock has chosen to adopt son Louis as a single mom. "My whole life has been full of hard decisions. The decision to let my wife end our marriage, and continue the adoption of Louis on her own, has been the hardest. The love I have for Louis cannot be put to words. Not having him around to love and to hold has left a huge hole in my heart," James told PEOPLE.
This is only the second time Bullock has spoken out in the aftermath of her husband's sex scandal, which broke in mid-March. The first was in a statement to deny that a sex tape of the two of them existed. ("There is no sex tape. There never has been one and there never will be one.")
Bullock was on top of the world when she won her first Oscar for her role in 'The Blind Side.' But just eight days after her victory, everything shattered when Michelle "Bombshell" McGee revealed she had been having an affair with Jesse James.
The 'Monster Garage' host apologized to his wife and children after Bombshell's claims surfaced.
"There is only one person to blame for this whole situation, and that is me. It's because of my poor judgment that I deserve everything bad that is coming my way," he said in a statement at the time. "This has caused my wife and kids pain and embarrassment beyond comprehension and I am extremely saddened to have brought this on them. I am truly very sorry for the grief I have caused them. I hope one day they can find it in their hearts to forgive me."
Eventually, several more women stepped forward, including stripper Melissa Smith, who recently wrote a letter to Bullock, apologizing to the 'Miss Congeniality' star, Brigitte Daguerre, Merilee Gerth and an anonymous woman who refused to tell her story. Rumors suggested that at least seven women were involved with Jesse during his marriage.
McGee herself has offered to sit down with the actress to discuss her relationship with James.
Bullock quickly moved out of the home the two shared together, and has stayed mostly quiet, while James entered rehab for sexual addiction.
Not even worth arguing with 'em, Frank LOL. WAY too much importance placed on the color thing, when it really shouldn't matter. Ms. Bullock wanted to adopt and I am pretty sure she didn't say she she had a "color" preference. I wish her much good luck with her new son and happiness for her future. She is one of the few in Hollywood that can be respected and a true role model. Kudos on your adoptions as well, Frank-ignore the haters, they have nothing better to do with their days. :o) Peace
It's not hard to believe at all if you know anything about the adoption process. Just because she has money doesn't move her up the list any especially if this was a case where Louis' biological mother had to choose who to place her child with.
Plus, it takes a while to get home studies done and have all of the right paperwork filled out before you are even shown to families. The process very easily could take years. The baby's age and her money should have nothing to do with it.
I new Sandra had the brains...I am so very thrilled for this wonderful talent!!! "Don't get caught up in the past. It can provide lessons, because you don't want to make the same mistakes twice, but be careful that you're not thinking too much about what happened yesterday. Bring your attention back to the here and now. Whatever you do and decide today will contribute to your future."
Yes adoption does take years in this country ..You can be in the process for a very long time before you can finally adopt . I think that needs to be changed . It shouldn't take that long .And these kids sit waiting in foster care . This is why people adopt foreign children . They don't have to wait for years .
Babies are babies. They have no idea what their nationality is. In this country, orphans are cared for, fed, clothed and educated. In other countries, orphans starve, die, or are sold. What makes some of you value an American infant over one born in another part of the world? We all live on a very tiny ball that is hurtling through an infinite universe. How stupid of us to draw lines on that ball to divide the human race.
I agree. Get over yourselves, people. They're not cars... they're human beings who have just as much a right to be adopted. People should be able to adopt from wherever they choose without morons squawking to "adopt American." That's plain scary.
My god people, these are children not cars! Adopt American? Seriously???? They're not frickin Fords!! They are all children who deperately need help, and each and every person who adopts any child from any area should be applauded. yeesh.
Why not a Black child? As a matter of fact people of all races are adopting childern of all races across the so called racial lines. Blacks adopting white babies likewise without a second thought. If you don't have that racist bug you just don't have it. Pity those who do.........Well done Sandra, the best of luck with your beautiful Baby boy
I'm so happy for Sandra Bullock. She is so intelligent. I just read this paragraph....so true "Don't get caught up in the past. He is still a newborn until between 3-4 months. It all depends on the individual childs rate of development. They can be called a toddler then they start walking and that is different for every baby. Personally I've had 5 babies & they were all different. Go figure.
Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it's not happening. I know a few families who are black who have adopted white children...this is not a double standard. The fact of the matter is that there are more waiting families for healthy white newborns than for babies of different races. Would you rather the non-white newborns end up in foster care than with a white family who wants them no matter what their race?
Gee you sure get a lot of negativity when you do not seek publicity for everything in your life. Wonder if stars use the bathroom like we do.....they should share all the details of their life in the papers ...that too. We have a right to know all the details don't we. Hope Sandra does well in the future and this child has a good life with her.
THIS BULLOCK/JESSIE JAMES STORY IS OVER. ITS NOT FRONT PAGE NEWS THAT A CELEB CHEATED AND IS GETTING DIVORCED. WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED ITS NOT NEWS ANYMORE!!!!!
Sandra is a breath of fresh air for all who have followed her career. Unfortunately she met someone who never understood who she really was and what she was made of. Nevertheless, in my book she is a winner and always will be, because she is a decent and worm human beign. More power to her, I am sure Louis will bring the happiness she deserves and moreover the rewards that a good parenting will bring in the future. The rest on the sidelines can cry all they want to no avail.
