John Cusack Faces Off With Twitter Grammar 'Trolls'

Twitter may only allow its users 140 characters per post, but for grammar sticklers, that's enough space to do some serious damage. John Cusack has recently been a victim of a blogger backlash, receiving criticism for his often egregiously
misspelled tweets. In an interview with the
New York Times, Cusack voiced his frustration with his detractors, calling them, "cranky, obsessive trolls."
The actor, who uses his iPhone to update his account, says of his inaccuracies, "I'm pretty new to it, and if there's a spell check on an iPhone, I can't find it. So I basically get in the general ballpark and tweet it."

This approach just doesn't cut it with some Twitter users, however, and they have taken it upon themselves to call out others whose micro-blogging etiquette doesn't pass muster.
Kirstie Alley, a prolific Twitter user, recently responded to the trend. Writing to user GrammarCop, who suggested that the actress pluralize her verbs, she tweeted, "You really just linger around waiting for people to use incorrect grammer [sic]? you needs [sic] a life."
Cusack has chosen a new approach to tweeting. He now intentionally misspells portions of his posts, and when the grammar police respond, Cusack says, "I blockthem [sic] executioer [sic] style now with no warning!!"
However, once blocked, the people just create a new account and "behave like cranky, obsessive trolls."

I never understood twitter. I was on it for 2 weeks and felt it was a waste of my time so I cancelled my account.

learn to use proppper garammer asnd spell it right. hahahahaha
My goodness, if everyone was condemned for being a bad speller, the world would have much fewer people. Etiquette, I had no idea there was an ettique for Twitter. Please people, get with the program, twitter is much like texting. If one prefers proper etiquette, stop blogging, stop reading others blogs, or texting, your telling me when you text, you do not take short cuts. Yeah right, your so full of it. Just enjoy the blogs, twitter, whatever you prefer to reference them as, that others put out there.

That's right Jennifer. You go girl!!
Jennifer, you are so right. sometimes I forget to spell check or there isn't one on the site I'm on. so I try to spell things right. But for some it's like OMG you are crap cause you spelled a word wrong or didn't catch your mistake before posting it.Aren't we all human ,and don't we all error sometimes.
Twitter is a ridiculous waste of time. Do people really think other people care where they are going, what they are doing, what they are eating, when they are taking a nap or when they take a dump? Get over yourselves!

I find it odd that Cusak would use the word "Weirdness" since anybody who has ever encourntered him can tell he is seriously unbalanced.

"Reproducting"? Huh?
"Reproducting"? Hey K, is that a Harvard term? lol You sure know how to put down those non spellers. lol ha ha ha.
What kind of a person, other than a teacher, who is paid to check for spelling errors, concerns themself with another person's spelling? Must be an a-hole.

Frankly, James Joyce did stream-of-consciousness better than anyone. Of course, one needs to be conscious in the first place. Sorry, Tila Tequila and Spencer Pratt. Most twits (or twitterers, or twitterati, whatever) are more engaged in stream-of-conspicuousness.

Do some of you people know that it is OK for young students to spell like he did. Spell it the way it sounds, that is what is being taught in schools in K thru the beginning of 2nd grade.
