Doc Says Bret Michaels Has 'Unbelievable Fight in Him'

While rocker Bret Michaels has some daunting medical challenges ahead of him, he has top medical care and a secret weapon -- his rock and roll heart.

"Bret's sheer will to live and fully recover is undeniable," Dr. Joseph Zabramski, who's been treating the 47-year-old 'Celebrity Apprentice' star since he suffered a brain hemorrhage, said in a statement released Friday. "He has an unbelievable fight in him."

Zabramski painted a dramatic picture of the first moments of Michaels' excruciating ordeal on April 22.

"What kept him alive at the moment of the hemorrhage was that he did not want his family to wake up and see him lying unconscious in the middle of the floor," said Zabramski.

It was the fight to get himself to capable emergency care that saved his life.

Zabramski said Michaels' condition remains "serious" and pointed out there have been "roadblocks" -- especially considering the condition has been made worse by "an emergency appendectomy performed a week earlier and a lifelong history of Type 1 Diabetes."

Michaels' reps announced that the star is being treated at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. There will be a press conference on Monday to update the world on his condition.

Really glad that Bret's condition is positive..First time I even heard of him was on "Celebrity Apprentice" one of my favs.. Brett true fighter, am glad I got to know the heart that he has through his devotion to his family, he really touched me.. only wish him and his family the best through this trying time... Keep on fighting, Bret. Type 1 diabetes is a killer. I developed it when I was 10, and was told I would be dead by the time I was 40. I've now had it for 53 years, so there is alway hope, especially with a fighting spirit!

I had brain surgery in 1999 i had three blood clots the one that did damage was a size of a orange. When i woke up i couldn't talk or move my hands and move my legs, but it cause me to have grand mal seizures it took me awahile to control it now i control it with medicne i will never work again but i am alive and that is better than anything to see my children have children and watch my granchildren grow up. bret just think about your children and that will help you with everything
