I am going to say what I always say in a case such as this: The couple is supposed to be married before having children.

Robert, I see that you are also one of us that think that this situation should not be the norm. Too bad for the children and that this couple do not care enough about each other to marry. Society just goes along with it, what a shame. I can't and I won't accept it even if it means that I don't get to know two of my grandkids due to their mothers stupid way of life and total lack of understanding right from wrong on this subject.
what universe are you from?
My god. In this day and age, whether you like it or not, marriage is a piece of paper. And NO piece of paper adds to how much love you feel for your children. Anyone can walk into a church and get married, whether religious or not. And to Irish Mist: of your grandkids whom you would turn your back on. You don't deserve to know them. They will be better off without someone so judgemental and short sighted in thier lives. Thankfully you are only hurting yourself and not them. Which of thier parents did you raise? If they are your grandchildren you are either the mother's parent or the father's parent. Obviously you didn't do such a fabulous job instilling your "ideals" in them. Or maybe they did learn something. Not to be like you and follow thier instinct, and do what is right for them and thier families. The couple in this story have been together 16 years. They are married in the eyes of the law. So there ya go.
I am so sick of celebrities having babies out of wedlock and how it is celebrated in the media. What kind of message is this sending to our children? Are there no morals left in this country that we can expand on? Shame on all of them for acting like they've done something great. If you want to have kids, GET MARRIED first. Know that makes me sound old fashioned but hey, morality is morality no matter the age.

Its too bad people don't run their lives like you good people (who have nothing better to do with your day than slam other people for the way they live). America is changing...it happens. I suggest if you can not handle that, then move to another country; one that meets your expectations.
And to IRISH MIST: I can not believe you would shun your own grandchildren for something they had no control over. They are much better off without you. WHAT IS THAT TEACHING OUR CHILDREN? That is the true question! I pity you on judgment day.

I used to be as cranky & bitter as Irish Mist & Robert. It's a shame that Americans like them are against progress.
Jeannie...you call having children out of wedlock PROGRESS???
That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
twins, twins, twins.. Does anyone get pregnant without fertility drugs anymore?

It's also because more women are giving birth later in life. My SIL didn't take fertility drugs, but she still gave birth to twins. She was also 33 at the time.
Doesn't ANYONE get married BEFORE having kids anymore???

Does anyone ever mind their own business anymore??
Progress is getting rid of a way of thinking that is nothing more then judging. Close minded people are usually the most hypocritical ones I know. And probably have the darkest closets. Before you decide to judge people who have had children out of wedlock, look in the mirror and make sure your reflection screams perfection...because that's the only way you have the right to judge.

People don't plan their lives anymore. They spend more time choosing a shampoo. Women are screwing up their lives left and right and they wonder why. It is they who have to choose to have a child or not.
