Jessica Simpson Wants to Be Michelle Obama

Jessica Simpson couldn't contain her excitement about meeting Michelle Obama at the White House Correspondents' dinner in Washington, D.C., Saturday.

She even told PEOPLE that she wants to be the First Lady. "She's such an incredible woman, and she's with such a powerful man," Simpson said. "Everything she does she exudes confidence," says the singer. "I'm really just here to celebrate her."

Simpson was among numerous stars, including 'Sex and the City' star Kristin Davis, Michael Douglas and Bradley Cooper, who came out for the annual event.

During the event, President Barack Obama took a dig at Jay Leno, calling him "the only person whose ratings fell more than mine."

According to the Associated Press, Obama told the attendees that "we've all seen what happens when you take the time slot after Leno."

Among the 3,000 guests on hand included Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, comedian Chevy Chase, actor Alec Baldwin, comedian Bill Maher, actress Michelle Pfeiffer, actor Dennis Quaid, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, GOP Chairman Michael Steele, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, White House senior adviser David Axelrod, the Jonas brothers and pop star Justin Bieber.
