Celeb Photographer Tyler Shields Shot Someone... With A Gun
By Ben Trivett Posted May 3rd 2010 11:35AM

We were able to catch up with Tyler, and he shared a little about his 'Collision' series. "Collisions are made using a new technique created by me. What you are seeing is one image taken with one camera with no Photoshop, all in camera. 'Collisions' are an exact representation of my memories and my dreams."
Tyler has made quite a name for himself in the world of celebrity photography. His no-holds-barred approach to getting the right images is a perfect match for the celebrity subjects he chooses. When asked about how he creates these images, Tyler said, "Every single person who has seen 'Collision' has asked me how I do it, but i would rather keep that secret to myself." Well Tyler, more power to you.
Now, back to shooting someone at the party. Tyler said on his blog, "Oh and you may have heard that I shot someone with a gun during the party. This is true. It was planned and all safety precautions were taken and it was performed with a professional." This seems like a risky stunt, but we'd expect nothing less. All in all, this sounds like a great night for a great project.
Art, celebrities and a shooting. We look forward to seeing more great
work from Tyler soon.

Wow, these photos are boring and unoriginal. As for the shooting, I was expecting something more thrilling and dangerous. It was like watching a child's living room magic show. Good that he has some admirers though, each to their own taste.
FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD
Tyler Shields Collisions is nothing more than a double exposure of sorts. All he is doing is projecting two images onto a projector screen and take a photo of the resulting double image.
This is not original, people have been doing this for decades.
Proof:
You can clearly see this in some of the shots where the lenticular pattern of the projector screen shows up.
You can also see this in the behavior of the light and photos, the light areas where white light can show through washes out dark areas of the other photo. This is very apparent in the "mouth"
photo where the white wall behind the subjects legs washes out the middle of the mouth in the other photo.

Well Gerald,
Clearly you're incapable of understanding how these photos were created and are most likely an angry hacker looking for love in all the wrong places. Just let it go and be happy for the art world man.
LOL well you don't say how my explanation is WRONG.. so..
Pretty sure I'm right.. people have been doing this forever.
Well, I am not a photographer, but the photos are amazing no matter how they were created. Seems to me that someone is jealous that he did not think of doing it and making a living doing it. lol
Agree with you 100% Gerald. Good observation btw.
Tyler is Amaaaaaaazing!

These are incredible. The images he has used have so much depth, it's insane. I feel like I am looking at paintings, not photographs. Great job Tyler!

I have yet to see any other art pieces like Tylers and maybe thats why he does have a huge fan base of celebrity clients that truly admire his work just as anyone else would so sorry Gerald your points don't seem to be valid here and maybe you should just humble yourself.

The shooting of the man was FAKED.
It was a blank, the guy even covers up the spot on the vest where an impact should be you never see it. Tyler runs over to help the guy and clearly they just pull out a bullet that has been already shot. It would be so hard to pry that off the vest.

Gerald, or should I say Batman, you clearly are a master detective. No one would have ever guessed that this could be staged. After all, ever since the very first Hollywood party in 1634 people have been shot for publicity and every last one has been the real deal, Until now.
You have uncovered a conspiracy the likes of which this country has never seen. Congratulations.
FAKE
Look at the recoil on Tyler's arms, there was almost none, this is a clear telltale of a blank.
the person who got hit then flinched to the side was clearly acting. Only a few people know what it's like to be actually shot with a bullet proof vest, it distributes the weight and it's like being hit in the chest with a sledge hammer.
This person was not hit with a real bullet.

okay Gerald, you know everything; good for you. I'm glad that somebody knows the mysteries of great photography and art show stunts, because honestly, I don't. What would we ever do without you?
It's pretty obvious that when Tyler goes up to the person with the vest on to check them, he pulls out an already shot bullet. Maybe fired against a vest.
The man shot is covering the spot where he was hit, you never see the impact mark on the vest again showing that this was faked.

This man Tyler probably should be arrested and charged with several crimes. Is Tyler the legal owner of that pistol? If he borrowed it, then there are two people at potential risk for a crime unless the owner is present and remains in control. Discharge of a firearm within city limits at other than on a proper range is generally a crime. What if he missed? Where would the bullet have gone? Shooting at someone is not to be taken lightly. Brandon Lee was KILLED with a blank. Vests can fail. The person being shot at is equally moronic.
Now that said, if we are to suppose this is a fake, how many stupid ignorant people are now thinking that they too might want to try this stunt? Maybe they won't be as careful. maybe they Won't use a blank? Even if all the alleged safety concerns were addressed, how long before someone dies doing this. Is Tyler qualified to shoot a handgun at a target? how much practice has he had shooting that particular gun. How does he know whether he will hit the plate or miss and hit a soft area? What if at the last instant he flinched and the shot went high or low? Did he consider the damage to the hearing of his guests from a gunshot in a closed room? After the shot, he goes up toe the person, did he clear his pistol and make sure it was empty? Not that I saw.
This is just unbelievably MORONIC.
