At 51, Madonna's Still Got the Drive (...and Body)
If there's something
Madonna has certainly never lacked, it's ambition. If there's two things ... the second trait would be bravado -- and both are flaunted in a new interview and photo shoot the Material Girl
gives to Interview Magazine for their May issue. During Madonna's chat (conducted by director Gus Van Sant), she talks about how she balances work and her kids, her trips to Malawi and why Sean Penn has "a fire under his ass." Saucy!
Quotes and pics after the jump!
On trips to Malawi: "I go to Malawi twice a year. It's where two of my children were adopted from, and I have a lot of projects there that I go and check up on and children who I look after. It's sort of a commitment that I've made to this country and the hundreds of thousands of children there who have been orphaned by AIDS. I made a documentary about it ['I Am Because We Are,' 2008], and it's just become part of my life. I'm going to meet with Jeffrey Sachs [the economist]. I'm sure you've heard of him. He's starting a global education initiative, and I'm going to be his Girl Friday, so to speak. We're going to hold a press conference to talk about the school for girls that I'm building in Malawi. It's kind of our way of making sure that every kid has a chance to have an education -- more specifically girls, but boys as well. Girls, though, in a lot of developing countries don't have the opportunity to go to school, nor are they encouraged to go to school, so what we're doing is the beginning of a dream. But I'm going to Malawi for lots of reasons."
On her film 'Filth and Wisdom': "I guess it is intimate. I never thought of it like that. It's kind of a small story. But really, if you break it down, it's about the struggle of being an artist. I feel like the three main characters in the film are basically me."
On Sean Penn's work in Haiti: "He's got a fire under his ass, that's for sure. A bee in his bonnet."
On balancing script writing and family: "I tend to write during the day so I can see my children at night. But if my kids aren't with me and I have a chunk of time when I'm a single woman living in my house for a miraculous week, I will get to write at different hours. I mean, we've burned the candle. We've stayed up all night. We've done it every which way. But generally we schedule chunks of time to be together and work on it."

i am surprised that the article was written by the popeater staff.
does that mean the whole staff has rheir noses buried so far up her butt that they are scared to say how it really is.
madonna may still have the drive but she is old. she has slowed down considerably as she has aged.
she does keep fit but i would say maybe too much so. i recently saw her on a talk show and she looked emaciated
i give her all the credit in the world

We're all going to be old some day... so what's your point?
Mick Jagger is older than sin and had a baby a couple of years back with some brazilian bimbo when he was in his sixties. No one mentions that he is old and that he slowing down in his interview.
She is showing woman that having a dream does not stop at 50!
yes..thank goodness for black and white film.
Yes, we do age. You will get old too if you live. You either get older or die!!! That's just the way it is.
If you're "giving her all the credit..." like you say "she's old" etc. remind me not to have friends like you. Madonna is STILL HOT!
Wow...she really looks hot for her age! I think she's smokin'!

She looks hot because the pics are DOCTORED. Just like almost all pictures in the media... In real life she looks old and too skinny. I'm still a fan, but truth is truth.
smokin hot yes i would do here in a heart beart
Well she was on some network talk-game show a few months ago and she couldn't have been "photo shopped" for TV. She still looked hot!
Plus check out the pics of her and her daughter at some New York function. She looked great! Wonder
why it bugs people if somebody us attractive. Weird.
She looks soooo..... nasty!! She got veins poppin like a man, a face like a man, a man like peni..wait not sure about that, somebody check. Hey has anyone seen her with that other he/she GaGa? maybe she/it's the same guy?

Why is she holding a crucifix upside down up to her mouth? There is no point other than to disrespect God. She looks good but so what?

Why? So she can hopefully cause controversy and sell more of whatever it is she's currently selling. Madge never had much musical talent, but she is an absolute genius as a marketing whiz.
Its easy to look good when you've got at your disposal the best make-up artists and hair stylists. Don't forget the botox and plastic surgery along with doctored air brushed photography.

Good Grief!! How much longer will we have to see this worthless, trashy woman in the "news". Make her go away....PLEASE!!

First of all at 51 she is working out all day long, and I mean all day or she has had her body cut up, no one is that small at 51 unless they are starving themselves.

Bonbon
It looks disgusting when women her age have zero body fat..she needs to leave the weights alone & whatever other body enhancing procedures she uses-nothing feminine about her. Imagine her @ 8am with no makeup-EEK
not true moron
It looks like she spends all her time working out.

AIRBRUSHED! Madonna hasn't been relevant since 1993.
