Robert Halderman and David LettermanRobert Halderman, the former CBS producer who tried to extort millions from David Letterman, will be spending six months in jail.

A judge sentenced Halderman to half a year behind bars after he pleaded guilty to attempted grand larceny, TMZ reports. He originally entered a plea of not guilty -- and faced up to 15 years in jail -- before changing his mind.

Halderman wanted $2 million from Letterman to not go public with information on the 'Late Show' host's infidelities.

However, Letterman beat his extortionist to the punch by revealing his affairs with female staffers during the monologue of his show back in October.
