Elisabeth Hasselbeck Slams Erin Andrews, Then Cries
On 'The View' Tuesday, Elisabeth Hasselbeck criticized ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews for dressing inappropriately on 'Dancing With The Stars.' Noting that Andrews has faced two separate stalking incidents in the past year, Hasselbeck said, "In light of what happened and as a legal [matter] -- and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room ... I mean, in some way if I'm him, I'm like, 'Man! I just could've waited 12 weeks and seen this -- a little bit less -- without the prison time!'"
But when Hasselbeck returned to the 'View' stage on Wednesday, she was singing a new tune. Tearfully, Hasselbeck said she regretted the remarks and opened up to her 5-year-old daughter at home -- who convinced her to call Andrews and apologize.
"I said, 'Well, Grace, today Mommy hurt someone's feelings,'" Hasselbeck said, choking back tears. She explained to her daughter that "reckless words pierce someone's heart like a sword."
"She's so cute, she said to me, 'Mommy, why don't you just call Erin and tell her you're sorry?'" Hasselbeck said. "So, thankfully, I listened to her -- she's a wise little girl -- and I did. So, I'm really sorry, and I wanted to offer that publicly too, even though I did follow that advice."
Michael David Barrett was sentenced to federal prison in March for posting a nude video of Andrews on the Internet after filming her through her hotel door. Barrett, 49, received a two-and-a-half-year term and was ordered to pay $7,366 in restitution to Andrews. He
admitted that he stalked Andrews for 18 months, tracking to at least three different hotel rooms in three states in 2008. He removed the peephole from her door in one of the hotel rooms and used his mobile phone to capture video of Andrews while she was naked.
Andrews told
PEOPLE that Hasselbeck's remarks were "a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators." She added: "As a mother and a woman, I'm disappointed she went there."
Even Andrews' dance partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, came to her defense, calling Hasselbeck "jealous... and stupid 4 her comments" (via

This show is much more enjoyable when Elisabeth is not on it..I can't stand her rudeness, and the face that she thinks her point of veiw is the only one that counts, she needs to shut her mouth...she is NOT very smart. Get rid of her...

Lexie, I agree with you in part...without Elizabeth there would be only one view expressed. But, the reason I agree with you is that Elizabeth's right wing view should be expressed so that people can continue to remember why the right wing view is so 19th century...and not yet ready to progress to the 21st century.
Perhaps this is a good time to give Elizabeth her walking papers. Would be nice to replace her with someone who is conservative, but who has some intellegence. I feel that Elizabeth is starved for attention and seeking the spotlight in any way possible. Why else do people go on Survivor except for attention. I love the View but please give us a break from Liz.

The diva bimbo is not "hot." She is about as original at 10,000 blonde bimbos wandering the back lots in Van Nuys shooting porn. She got a break being hired to do ESPN. So, she flaunts her body at eery opportunity then whines when she is not taken "seriously" as a journalist. Can't have it both ways, honey.
Elizabeth needs to shut her mouth...what a b***h!! The last thing Erin needs after enduring all she has had to endure from the male species, is flack from a female!! She needs support, not criticism...and correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think that Erin handpicks her outfits..aren't they made to match the dances???
