Elisabeth Hasselbeck Slams Erin Andrews, Then Cries

On 'The View' Tuesday, Elisabeth Hasselbeck criticized ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews for dressing inappropriately on 'Dancing With The Stars.' Noting that Andrews has faced two separate stalking incidents in the past year, Hasselbeck said, "In light of what happened and as a legal [matter] -- and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room ... I mean, in some way if I'm him, I'm like, 'Man! I just could've waited 12 weeks and seen this -- a little bit less -- without the prison time!'"
But when Hasselbeck returned to the 'View' stage on Wednesday, she was singing a new tune. Tearfully, Hasselbeck said she regretted the remarks and opened up to her 5-year-old daughter at home -- who convinced her to call Andrews and apologize.
"I said, 'Well, Grace, today Mommy hurt someone's feelings,'" Hasselbeck said, choking back tears. She explained to her daughter that "reckless words pierce someone's heart like a sword."
"She's so cute, she said to me, 'Mommy, why don't you just call Erin and tell her you're sorry?'" Hasselbeck said. "So, thankfully, I listened to her -- she's a wise little girl -- and I did. So, I'm really sorry, and I wanted to offer that publicly too, even though I did follow that advice."
Michael David Barrett was sentenced to federal prison in March for posting a nude video of Andrews on the Internet after filming her through her hotel door. Barrett, 49, received a two-and-a-half-year term and was ordered to pay $7,366 in restitution to Andrews. He
admitted that he stalked Andrews for 18 months, tracking to at least three different hotel rooms in three states in 2008. He removed the peephole from her door in one of the hotel rooms and used his mobile phone to capture video of Andrews while she was naked.
Andrews told
PEOPLE that Hasselbeck's remarks were "a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators." She added: "As a mother and a woman, I'm disappointed she went there."
Even Andrews' dance partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, came to her defense, calling Hasselbeck "jealous... and stupid 4 her comments" (via

EXACTLY MM and to top it off, what you said is what Liz has said time and time again on The View!! How woman should stand up for each other, NOT tear one another down, etc but what does she do?? She does just the oppisite!! Not surprising seeing how we're talking about Liz!! LOL
And as many of you pointed out.... Why would it take her FIVE YR OLD to tell her what was the right thing to do??? In fact, why even tell your FIVE YR OLD something like this??? This is an adult issue!! Seems Lizzy knows no boundaries!! Great parenting skills there Lizzy!! Soon, you'll make "Mommy of the Year" right along with Kate and Sarah!!! LOL
I'm not buy Lizzy's reason for apologizing. If what she said was true, then she'd have to apologize to MANY FEMALES because this isn't the first time she's hit below the belt!! I think cry baby Lizzy did it because she got A LOT of flack from her tweeter followers. And she must of thought "crying" while on air would make us believe her even more!! Nope, not buying it Lizzy!! Nice try but NO DICE.... LOL
correcting you, You Are Wrong
I like Elisabeth. I also like Erin. I think Elisabeth was way out of line. I don't care if Erin came on DWTS naked, she did not deserve what happened to her and Elisabeth, as a woman, should know that.

I agree I think it's time for Elisabeth to move on, the show's better when she's not on it.

While Elizabeth could have articulated / chosen her words a little more carefully, I do think she had a point the first time she spoke out.
It appears that Erin (in dressing in such skimpy outfits on DWTTS) could be setting herself up for POSSIBLE future stalkers.
I'm just sayin' . . .

Erin's costumes aren't very revealing, most of the other women wear way less. Elisabeth was OUT OF LINE!
I totally agree with what you said. That's exactly how I interpretted Elizabeth's words and pretty sure that's what she intended to impart. She didn't reference all the other revealing costumes on the show because none of those women have a stalker behind bars!
If it were me, and I'd suffered the emotional trauma of being stalked by someone hoping to catch me near naked or naked, I'd certainly make every effort to cover myself more fully in the future to prevent another occurrence....especially if I were going to be televised nationally! Not saying Erin is asking for it at all. But surely she has some say in the costumes she wears and it would appear, she's over the trauma of being eye candy.
Another female blaming the victim? As someone has already said I don't think you choose your own costume. It is choosen for you.
Then you are as ignorant as Elisabeth! It is a DANCE show - they ALL dress like that! To even suggest these women are setting themselves up as stalker bait is beyond stupid! There are many reasons perverts stalk (or worse) and nothing anyone does deserves that! Does wearing heels mean you are inviting weirdos with shoe fettishes?? That reasoning is ridiculous. Grow up!
Sometimes I'm glad that I don't get to see some daytime shows. Elisabeth was way out of line. If Erin is performing a dance and wearing a costume, how does Elisabeth equate that to someone peeping on Erin? Or threatening someone's life? Elisabeth really does not speak very intelligently most of the time. As a women and a mother, she really should have thought about what she was saying. No one deserves to have their privacy invaded.

PLEASEEEEEE GET RID OF THAT STUPID WOMAN ALREADY SHES SO WRONG ON EVERY LEVEL~
SHE MUST BE HARD UP FOR TOPICS.

I agree get rid of Joy!! That's who you meant right?
Yes, agree with Silly. Joy grates on my nerves. She ambushes the guests from The View and gets them to appear on her "other show" that same night. She has said a lot worse things than Elisabeth has ever said! Elisabeth will not be fired.
all you idiots who watch that show are all in the same basket. A bunch of loser gossips who have nothing better to do than stick thier nose in everyone else's business. It would be more productive to take that time and improve yourself.
