Emma Watson Recalls 'Awful' First Week at College

There isn't a 'Harry Potter' fan who doesn't dream about getting that acceptance letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Apparently, one witch just dreamed of going to Rhode Island. Emma Watson, best known for her role as know-it-all Hermione Granger in the 'Harry Potter' movies, is currently trying out college life as a student at Brown University. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Watson shares some experiences from life at a normal school.

"It was just awful," she said of the first week of freshman year. "I was like, I must be mad. Why am I doing this?" But that didn't stop Watson from attending a typical college frat party. "I felt like I'd walked into an American teen movie. I picked up the red cups. I was like, Wow, they really do drink from these."

But she eventually had a solid group of friends, including a roommate who could care less about 'Harry Potter' and a rumored boyfriend named Rafael Cebrián, who is an actor and musician from Spain.

On the academic side of life, Watson chose a variety of classes: European women's history, Ovid's Metamorphoses, and acting. While you'd think she would be a whiz in acting class, Watson begs to differ. "I think actually I'm the worst person in the class," she said.

But Watson does have some traits in common with her character Hermione. "If I'm honest, I was her," she said. "I was very keen. I was super-eager to please and be good. And I was always kind of bossy."

After being in the spotlight for most of her life, Watson is happy to be living quietly and normally for once. "I was scared before I came to Brown-that I wasn't going to be allowed to have both [a career and a normal life]. People would think that I didn't deserve to have both. [I was afraid they'd think], You're famous. You're given free handbags. Why should you deserve to be normal?"

Christopher Bailey, creative director for Burberry, also sees two sides to the young actress and newest face of the design house. "She's the only girl I know who gets two completely different reactions from people: 'Aw' and 'Whoa!'?"

This girl seems arrogant; I read an article about her when she was still preparing for college & she stated she hoped her roommate to be isn't star struck.

So her first week @ college was awful because of what? Maybe people weren't falling all over her like she expected

Considering how crazy people are the world over in regard to the HP movies, I don't blame her for hoping she'd get a normal roommate who wasn't star struck.
That's not conceit. Not even a little bit. That's a bright young woman who has seen way too many star struck people. You forget how young she was when this started. It must have been frightening to deal with when she was 10.
So cut her some slack. Everything I've ever read about her pretty much says she's about as normal as someone with her life could be!

She never said she hoped her roommate wouldn't be star struck. She said that Daniel Radcliffe teased that she would walk in and her roommate would have Harry Potter posters and duvets all over the place. But that didn't happen, Emma's roommate isn't in to Harry Potter.
Emma is one of the most humble people in the world, far from arrogant.

Emma has the looks and character of Julie Andrews and maybe a little more. If she can just focus on the work at hand, get her degree, build some good friendships, and hit the boards with some down to earth acting work, she should be good to go for a long, long run as one of our very best actresses.

You can't blame her for wanting a normal life, and I'm glad she's found it and that she's happy at Brown. I'm also glad she's finally realized she sucks at acting, and now maybe she'll get better!

This young lady has never done a single thing to deserve ONE hater. Not one. However, they find their way out from under the flooring, no matter who is discussed. She is beautiful, and a real young lady as far as anyone knows. So, congratulate her, encourage her, and treat her like your daughter or sister. What is wrong with that? Save hatred for the few who really deserve it.

It's called jealousy. Most people who don't like her have no basis for it. They're just making stuff up, which is why they all use the same, boring, and untrue "insults:" She can't act, she looks 12, she's plain, she only got into brown because she's famous, she's too skinny, blah, blah, blah, please be more original.

WHAT???? did you just DISS her???? well if you dont like her what was the point of looking at this??? obviously cant have seenANY of her Movies OR read the books!!!!
