'Family Guy' aired its 150th episode on Sunday, but instead of celebrating, the show is under fire once again by a family oriented watchdog group. The Parents Television Council claims the hit FOX sitcom was intentionally trying to needle the FCC when they released 'Brian and Stewie,' in which one character eats the others (oh no, please don't say it) feces.
Broadcast decency laws apply to anything depicting content in which excretory functions are used in an offensive manner.
"It seems as though 'Family Guy' creator, Seth MacFarlane, carefully reviewed the legal definition of broadcast indecency and set out to violate it as literally as he could," said PTC President Tim Winter on their website.
We don't take pleasure in describing what occurs between Brian and Stewie in the episode, but in a nutshell, the pair are stuck in a bank vault when Stewie makes a deposit in his diaper. He somehow convinces his canine companion to eat the diaper's contents, then shockingly coaxes him to clean his bottom using ... his ... tongue. (Pause to gag.)
There is also vomit and the eating of said vomit.
"Given the patently offensive depictions of one character eating excrement out of a diaper, then eating vomit, and finally licking the remaining excrement from a baby's bottom -- while the baby expresses physical gratification from having his bottom licked -- we believe that the broadcast decency law has been broken," Winter said.
The FCC has so far not filed an official complaint against FOX, but the PTC is calling on all concerned parents to boycott the show's sponsors.
"We will also hold publicly accountable the corporate sponsors which underwrote this feces-eating broadcast, ironically a number of which were restaurants."
FOX and McFarlane have so far declined to comment on the controversy.
Tim Winter and PTC once again are out of touch with America and are prudes as well. It's Family Guy they do those stunts every week if you don't like then don't watch the show that easy.
PTC back in Nov lied about Gossip Girl and made a big deal out of nothing they wanted The CW affiliates not to air the said EP because of morals & standards or something like that. I liked the fact they had egg on there face they knew they wrong they never admitt that what they do is wrong which they are and know it.
watchdog groups...get a life. watch the whole episode and you'll see that not only is a pretty funny episode-not its finest, but still humorous- it also has a much deeper and adult message. what show on tv can there be a character eating crap one minute and the next reading David Copperfield after a serious talk about contemplation of suicide. Get over yourselves and let Seth and the Family Guy crew do their thing. I was more shocked about the serious turn the story took than the eating of the crap. Get over yourselves, let the people who enjoy Family Guy watch it and you can change Fox at 9 on Sundays.
When I first saw the episode, I was somewhat displeased and disgusted by watching Brian eating Stewie's crap. I cannot believe that Seth MacFarlane would allow some writer to make this happen. I did not like that episode that much but the second part I was pleased with because of the sing-a-longs.
Fox must be having fun. What's that old saying in Hollywood? Something to the effect you only have to worry when people stop talking about you (or in this case a stupid cartoon). I've never watched the show but it's interesting to see how low any of the networks will go and have gullible viewers and advertisers follow.
HEY PTC PEOPLE GO GET A REAL JOB!!!! most of the members are probably just board housewives who have nothing better else to do. If you dont like don't watch you are to say what others can watch.
That is thought provoking funny stuff. You got to be full of yourself if you find that hurts your moral fiber. It is suppose to be offensive. The gag reflex should be initiated once and a while. I'm waiting for the Quagmire episode when the porn stars need a fluffer and Brian steps in with the peanut butter. Maybe that goes too far.... really Brian, really?
Family Guy is warping just like South Park did. Both started out pushing the envelope and did it well. I personally found the humor kind of like having sex in a public place - a little dirty, sneaky, exciting. Both have now moved to coitus in the public square. Crossed the line. Perhaps those who loved it don't have a line.
People actually find this funny? Ten minutes to set-up a joke, and then they have the punch-line off-screen? Oh, and how can I forget that "random = funny"? Their cell-phone is about to die, so he makes a stupid decision on how to use the last few minutes/seconds of battery-life, wow, I'm just DYING from laughter over here.
Okay, to start out, I've never been one to condone censorship. Some countries, such as Japan, have no form of censorship. If parents don't want their kids to see certain content, then they should be the ones to control the television. We live in a society that for decades, parents sit their kid in front of a TV and go about their daily lives; effectively letting the media educate our offspring.
Shows like Family Guy are often racy, vulgar, and sometimes just plain sick. This show isn't made for children, but geared toward adults, most likely between ages 18 and 30. If you find this episode to be indecent and shocking, then you're probably not a regular watcher.
This episode portrays shock value in a sense almost as epic as when Lucille Ball said the word "Pregnant" on TV. People were as appalled back then as you people are about this episode of a normally vulgar animated program. People watch this show which dares to cross the line, and people watch it and think "You haven't crossed the line enough." And now they finally have, and so now people are going to want to take it off the air.
In the episode, the feces was never shown, and the act of Brian eating it and the vomit were also off frame. If you would like to see these things, watch a little viral video called 2-girls-1-cup. There's feces, there's vomit, and they're eating it. There's even a lovely song written about it.
So, my final statement to the people protesting this episode is: Stop whining when you see something you don't like on TV!

I MISS KING OF THE HILL.

It was gross, but also hilarious. Kate Gosland (pictured below the article) is gross, and not entertaining at all.

Yup, it just goes under that old saying "There is no such thing as bad publicity." If it gets people talking, it's publicity, and publicity is good.

First of all, there are two Fox entities. Fox Broadcasting Network and Fox News. Secondly, it's not only just a TV show, it's a stupid cartoon!!
