And the late-night war wages on: During the opening monologue of Tuesday's 'Tonight Show,' host Jay Leno took a subtle, blink-and-you'll-miss-it jab at former NBC rival Conan O'Brien.
It came at the end of a joke about Faisal Shahzad, the man suspected of last weekend's attempted car bombing in Times Square, during which Leno highlighted Shahzad's fake Facebook profile page. The obvious jokes were there, of course: Shahzad's was listed as being friends with Osama bin Laden, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and, yes, Danny Bonaduce, while his activities included beach volleyball, rollerblading and blowing up Nissan Pathfinders. But it was the items listed under Shahzad's "Member of" section that raised a few eyebrows. Watch the clip after the jumpand let us know if it was kosher or crass.
Did you see it? Though Leno didn't mention it, beneath the Bridgepoint Ultimate Frisbee Club, Al Qaeda and the Pakistan Frequent Flyers Club was "Team Coco," the group of fans who rallied behind O'Brien before he was ousted from the 'Tonight Show' in January.
This is just the latest twist in the fallout between NBC, Leno and O'Brien, which seemed to have finally settled after news broke last month that O'Brien will host a new talk show on TBS, beginning this November.
In an interview with '60 Minutes' on Sunday, his first since leaving the 'Tonight Show,' O'Brien said, "[Leno] went and took that show back and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know -- I know me, I wouldn't have done that," O'Brien said.
"If I had surrendered 'The Tonight Show' and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well -- and then ... six months later," he continued. "But that's me, you know. Everyone's got their own, you know, way of doing things."

I really don't get this rivalry with Conan O'Brien. If you can't cut the mustard, NBC has a right to admit they made a mistake and admit they tried to fix a show that was not broken. Why doesn't Conan see it was he who tried to steal JAY LENO's show which was #1 in it's time slot. Why does't he apologize? Conan it was just was not your time, lick your wounds all the way to the bank and just stop talking about a situation that was not your making NOR Jay Leno. NBC just want to pay the bills.

Susan, you're delusional!! The 10pm Jay Leno Show was suffering from low ratings, the local NBC news affiliates were being hurt by this and they were very vocal about their concerns. They wanted Leno gone! Conan also had low ratings, but it was Leno's 10pm show that was causing the problem. Leno wanted to return to his old time slot after he had already given it to Conan with his blessing. NBC got rid of Conan because it cost them a lot less money. Leno and NBC are the real swine's in this picture! Conan didn't do anything wrong, he simply wanted them to honor the contract.

Hold told NBC he would take it if he wasn't given the Tonight Show when Carson retired and NBC not wanting to lose him, secretly signed him behind Carson's and Letterman's back. 6 years ago FOX and ABC were offering Conan their 11:35 timeslots and CBS offered him the post Letterman slot with the promise of taking over Dave's show when he retires. Conan told NBC he would take one of offers unless he was signed to take over the Tonight Show. NBC didn't want to lose him so they signed him and set a five year succession plan. The difference is after Leno was secretly signed, he and his manager grew impatient when Carson signed to do another year so they started a campaign to push him out by planting phony stories in the press and trying to conivince NBC to force Carson out.
