'American Idol' Edits Lady Gaga's Full Performance

Lady Gaga's highly-anticipated performance on 'American Idol' was cut short and edited, the 'Poker Face' singer claims. "Fox chopped up my performance in four places," she wrote on Twitter. She pre-taped her 'Alejandro' and 'Bad Romance' performance, which originally ran about six-and-a-half minutes in length. But due to time constraints, the show cut it down to just under five minutes. Gaga performed in true 'Fame Monster' style, featuring smoke machines, eight shirtless dancers and a large statue of an archangel.

The singer started her performance sitting at a piano, which she played as she sang the opening lines of her hit song 'Bad Romance' before proceeding into her latest single, 'Alejandro,' with outrageous dancing -- which looked very Madonna-esque.

According to WWD, Gaga wore a lace, mesh and crystal-studded bodysuit designed by Armani. The designer described the outfit as "pure fantasy."

As for Gaga herself, Armani calls her a "modern phenomenon who has proved to be fascinating, and whose every appearance is a piece of theatre."

Last nights performance by Lady Gaga was inappropriate for a family show. If I have wanted to watch a stripper I would not have been watching American Idol. Fox did an industice to its family viewers.

Lady Gaga is a great singer. Her persona is just costuming to add interest, aka KISS. The song she sang on AI last night was not great, however. Repetative and forgettable. I didn't care for Alejandro AT ALL.

Lol ya people are HATERS! Lady Gaga has talent, i am a fan of Gaga. About the video being, ''too risky to show to kids'', let me tell you something there is much more bad videos and shows out there, so think before ya say something.

Well something needed to be edited short. American Idol always runs over time. When I turn to Fox for the show after "Idol" there still on. It's annoying.
They should just pre-tape the whole thing so they can cut unnecessary banter.

I could not stand to watch her. She can not sing either. I never seen or heard her. NOW, I wish I hadnt. I did not miss anything.I kept asking my husband "is it over with yet?". I am glad they did not show anymore than they did.

I'm not a huge fan, but what is so great about her is the fact that she actually sings and writes her own songs. There may be about 5 singers that can claim those two facts these days. Everyone lip syncs, and nobody writes their own music.

Inappropriate viewing for a teen? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA! I never laughed so hard in my life. Apparently you don't know what your teens are doing. The sooner you recognize, the sooner you will be able to save them. You are too funny. Teens are doing that, not hiding their eyes from watching it. HAHAHA again. You are SOOOOO naive! I hope I'm not repeating myself....
I will admit that perhaps Lady Gaga's performance might not have been "appropriate" to the general audience of AI. I suggest that before you decide to pan Gaga, that you watch her interview on the Ellen Degeneres Show. You will see a very personable, charming young woman. Also, her two performances on that show are, shall I say, more refined.
You need to broaden your horizons and take the time to check out who she really is. It might surprise you.

Did anyone notice the predominate male dancer was the kid from So You Think You Can Dance a couple of season's ago?? I forget his name but he was awesome. De did the suitcase dance on that show...very memorable. I've seen him here and there performing. As for Gaga's performance - I loved it. At least it was entertaining not like this season's IDOL.

If I hear her songs one more time on the radio I will puke...I did not mind her in the beginning..she is just a copy of Madonna...they just know how to market themselves...and that is what makes people buy their tickets...certainly it is not talent.

I think she's talented but just too much and will not last. She's really only 24 years old and from Brooklyn or the Bronx (I think). I think Adam Lambert is a superior entertainer. But last year we lost the best ever, Michael Jackson, no one like him that's for sure.

If I had any children in the room with me when Lady D. came on I think I would have turned it off. My husband and I sat with our mouths open watching that performance. Horribly weird!
