'American Idol' Edits Lady Gaga's Full Performance

Lady Gaga's highly-anticipated performance on 'American Idol' was cut short and edited, the 'Poker Face' singer claims. "Fox chopped up my performance in four places," she wrote on Twitter. She pre-taped her 'Alejandro' and 'Bad Romance' performance, which originally ran about six-and-a-half minutes in length. But due to time constraints, the show cut it down to just under five minutes. Gaga performed in true 'Fame Monster' style, featuring smoke machines, eight shirtless dancers and a large statue of an archangel.

The singer started her performance sitting at a piano, which she played as she sang the opening lines of her hit song 'Bad Romance' before proceeding into her latest single, 'Alejandro,' with outrageous dancing -- which looked very Madonna-esque.

According to WWD, Gaga wore a lace, mesh and crystal-studded bodysuit designed by Armani. The designer described the outfit as "pure fantasy."

As for Gaga herself, Armani calls her a "modern phenomenon who has proved to be fascinating, and whose every appearance is a piece of theatre."

I thought this performance was way out of line for American Idol and it's time slot. I have been a fan for years. Another like that and I quit!!

What Gagad does has nothing to do with talent, it is just showmanship. You don't have to be able to recognize (real)talent to like her, you only have the need to be outrageously entertained. Personally, I think her brand of entertainment is bordering on insanity.

She is so disgusting. So glad I could fast forward her performance on the DVR. In a year or so, the world will forget all about her. I can't even say her name, it is so ridiculous. I can't figure out why American Idol would have her on during Sinatra week. That show is going down the tubes very fast.
Hopefully, they will never have this freak on again.

I am a 67 year old man and remember hen Rock an Roll started in the 50s. When Elvis first started people were saying the same thing about him as they are saying about her. I agree that she was a little over the top for a family orianted show like AI, however, the reason that she is and will be in the future a big star is because SHE IS DIFFERENT. I saw her on the internet about a month ago and listened to a couple of her songs and I think she has talent. It may be be the kind you like but an awful lot of people do. I'll take her over ANY of this RAP CRAP anyday. Rap is violent, and vulgar and I don't know how they get away with the language that is used. I would much rather for my child to see this over RAP anyday.

Idol is garbage... they were lucky to have her on there... for all the haters... SHE has TALENT... she CAN actually sing... she CAN actually play multiple instruments AND she IS a VERY smart business woman... she knows what sells in this industry - she IS the female version of Elton John... probably why he (the snoot he can be at times) will share the stage with her... HE does not normally do that with anyone... soooo many jealous people out there... if you don't like her music... don't look/listen... She is making millions, so she must be doing something right...

Hear Ye, American Idol People!!!!!!! Your long time fans have seen and reported. "Lsdy" Gaga has a good voice, but she's no lady, she's a tramp. If you want American Idol to stay as an Idol, lay off the trashy stuff. Are you not trying to find an Idol singer. Watch it, you're losing your audience.

People who can sing just get on stage and sing. All of her theatrics do not equal singing. I guess we could call her an entertainer, but not a singer. She's horrid and disgusting. I miss the beautiful singers - who sang with grace and dignity.

Yeah, I'm "like 90." And I know the difference between "to" and "too" and "two." 90% of the responses here are negative toward Lady Gaga, no matter what their ages are. Prancing around in stupid get-ups is not talent.

yeah...and where are all those "beautiful" singers now? either in a grave or dropped by their label. standing still on stage and just singing doesnt get you anywhere now and days. the fact that shes getting attention...negative or positive is good for her. so for you to even be reading an article about lady gaga is simply helping her even more.

The flavor of the day... once upon a time there was The New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync - all hype and image with no real substance. Change the faces and the name, but the story remains the same. Style vs. substance.

The Lady Ga Ga performance was disgusting & I agree with others--had no place on AI. After the fuss about Adam L. this is really over the top. I felt it was x rated. AI needs to keep entertainment viewable by families.

Well,, if they had to cut some time out of the show,, couldn't have been a better place to do it. Should have cut the whole thing out in my opinion. Someone who has REAL talent doen'st need all the theatrics to be a success. Must be really insecure to have to hide behind all the ridiculous costumes. Face the world and perform without all that and let's see what you really have to offer.

I grew up listening to Madonna. Lady Gaga seems to me to be a modern day version of the same. She is a spectacle on stage. Hey, whatever sells right? I think Madonna was much more talented though.
