Barbara Walters Forced Elisabeth Hasselbeck's Apology?
Sources tell me that a genuinely remorseful Elisabeth Hasselback may have been told by 'The View' matriarch Barbara Walters that an apology was needed for her nasty comments towards Erin Andrews. And, like all smart mama bears, Barbara knew that an apology on 'The View' would be a ratings gold mine. In addition, in these tough times, Elisabeth has reached out to a pal in her time of need, and you won't believe who it is: Sarah Palin.

"Elizabeth and Sarah have remained close friends after the election," an insider tells me. "Of course, she has reached out to her friends. She needs all the support she can get right now. It's during the bad times that you get to know who your real friends are."
Elizabeth publicly apologized after her remarks on 'The View,' in which she said Andrew's convicted stalker could have avoided prison and seen almost as much by watching Erin on 'Dancing with the Stars.' However, sources tell me the apology was more Barbara Walters' idea than Elisabeth's.
"Barbara thought it would be a good idea to have Elisabeth apologize on air," said one insider. "No one is more professional than Barbara, and since the comment was made on 'The View,' the apology should also be made on 'The View.' Plus, all this drama is GREAT for ratings."
On Wednesday's 'View,' a crying Hasselbeck said that "reckless words pierce someone's heart like a sword," and apologized for what she said the day prior.

Surprised By Elisabeth's Comments: Watch
So what exactly did she say that Andrews dubbed "a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators"? Hasselbeck said: "In light of what happened and as a legal [matter] -- and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room ... I mean, in some way if I'm him, I'm like, 'Man! I just could've waited 12 weeks and seen this -- a little bit less -- without the prison time!'"
No word yet on what advice Elizabeth's friend Sarah had to offer, although I'm sure if Barbara has her way, we will get to hear about it very soon on, you guessed it, 'The View.'

I agree with that JS.

I really wonder if all the people making glib remarks concerning the stalking of Erin Andrews would think it as funny if it were their mothers or sisters. If there is anyone out there that has had a family member stalked and you found it amusing please let us in on the joke.

Believe me - I've been there, more than once, and it is truly NO JOKE.
EH and SP - what do they say? Birds of a feather, stick together!
EH's treatment of Erin's stalking empowered the stalker, and all other stalkers. Stalkers are mentally weak people with violent tendencies. They take away victim's privacy and sense of safety and sometimes their life. They inflict pain and humiliation not only on their victim, but the victim's family and friends. I would like a public statement from EH saying stalkers are bad. This society does not support them. Now, if you do not support the skimpy costume on TV... change the channel, or try to get the garment censored. And, if you decide to do the latter, you might want to go ahead and start burning books. Go ahead and try to inflict your moral beliefs on all others. I don't believe you'll get very far.
E has funny need to be pointed in loud way.. strong opinions ok but must be so loud and mean? No dipolomacy. Replace her!
And doubt BW or fake story about her kid was part of day #2.. think husband Tim's employer (also Erin Andrew's employer) exploded. And rightly so.
Hope more backlash ahead. This bigmouth needs!

Did not know that about her husband, she really messed up! Take a minute and think before you speak. Trouble at work and at home, Happy Mothers Day.
How many times do we have to watch the spectacle of EW weeping on television. You have to hand it to her, it's got to be difficult with both feet in your mouth. Get rid of her!

Does anyone need any qualifications to be a co-host on a talk show. I mean really! She was on Survivor and now she's on the View. Does anyone really care what she has to say. And she always has something to say. I say,"Give me a break"!
I think the View would have better luck with next member voted off. The tribe has spoken.

I agree yes, please can EH
She should have done more than apologize, She deserves a big time out (the viewers sure could use one from her!)

it makes you an IDIOT
You are the one in need of psychiatric help. She was violated when someone invaded her privacy. If she chose to go buck naked in Hustler, that would be HER choice. Your lack of respect for women is appalling. You have much growing up to do.

If they gave EH the boot... then they've messed-up their format -- 3 liberal old bags gang-up daily on an attractive and intelligent woman.

You said it, Elizabeth is not allowed to have a view if the rest don't like it. If that is how she feels, she should not have to say she is sorry for it.
lol...now that is funny...maybe they should give Elizabeth and sara their own show over on Fox.
If you think the EH is intelligent, your just as stupid as she is.
Amen to that. Why would you get rid of the only conservative voice on that show not to mention the only attractive one. Besides about every other word out of Joy's mouth is offensive. Just more liberal "open mindedness" trying to silence anyone who disagrees.
