Barbara Walters Forced Elisabeth Hasselbeck's Apology?

Sources tell me that a genuinely remorseful Elisabeth Hasselback may have been told by 'The View' matriarch Barbara Walters that an apology was needed for her nasty comments towards Erin Andrews. And, like all smart mama bears, Barbara knew that an apology on 'The View' would be a ratings gold mine. In addition, in these tough times, Elisabeth has reached out to a pal in her time of need, and you won't believe who it is: Sarah Palin.

"Elizabeth and Sarah have remained close friends after the election," an insider tells me. "Of course, she has reached out to her friends. She needs all the support she can get right now. It's during the bad times that you get to know who your real friends are."

Elizabeth publicly apologized after her remarks on 'The View,' in which she said Andrew's convicted stalker could have avoided prison and seen almost as much by watching Erin on 'Dancing with the Stars.' However, sources tell me the apology was more Barbara Walters' idea than Elisabeth's.

"Barbara thought it would be a good idea to have Elisabeth apologize on air," said one insider. "No one is more professional than Barbara, and since the comment was made on 'The View,' the apology should also be made on 'The View.' Plus, all this drama is GREAT for ratings."

On Wednesday's 'View,' a crying Hasselbeck said that "reckless words pierce someone's heart like a sword," and apologized for what she said the day prior.

So what exactly did she say that Andrews dubbed "a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators"? Hasselbeck said: "In light of what happened and as a legal [matter] -- and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room ... I mean, in some way if I'm him, I'm like, 'Man! I just could've waited 12 weeks and seen this -- a little bit less -- without the prison time!'"

No word yet on what advice Elizabeth's friend Sarah had to offer, although I'm sure if Barbara has her way, we will get to hear about it very soon on, you guessed it, 'The View.'

Walters "professional"...a professional dupe maybe. Sure what Elizabeth said could have been worded wrong, but somehow all the liberal members of the "view" have said things alot worse, alot more hurtful...but somehow Walters didnt demand that THEY apologize on air...

I agree with you on that statement of wearing the clothes of a hooker. But please, someone help me understand why in God's name, would Elizabeth need to confer with Sara Palin on anything? This woman oviously doesn't have a clue about politics or dressing the part. They had to take her out, buy her a wardrobe and dress her up to try and win the election for them. That went over like a bag or rocks, which by the way is what is inside Sara Palin's head. She couldn't help her daughter keep from having a kid, how can she help Elizabeth?

her opinions are worth as much as anyone else's. And realistically I'd trust HER with my kids alone alot more than with ANYONE else on the View. It is obvious that the show should (in the interests of Truth in Advertising) be renamed The Left Wing View. And dont give me how even handed they are. Only liberals think this way : a liberal bill that garners 99 democrat party votes and 1 Republican Party vote is considered bi-partisan, while a conservative bill that garners 60 Republican votes and 40 Democrat votes partisan. yes...that is exactly how the liberal media describes these votes.

Ell and Andy are a couple of morons. Sometimes the costumes are a bit much (or, in some cases, less), but, nothing Erin has worn has been inappropriate for the show. She's a beauty and I'm a red blooded male who can certainly appreciate her fit physique. I may smile with relish, but, I'm not going to go a stalking. Yes, it's certainly sexual attraction, something that has existed since life began or Eve bit the apple. Now, another option that may be considered is for the seamstresses in El Dorado, Texas, to design the costumes. Oh, did I mention that Ell and Andy are morons?

It utterly disgusts me when victims are blamed for the crimes perpetrated upon them. Like somehow the victim is asking for it and the perpetrator was just doing what he or she was told. It sickens me. If you're going to act like an animal rather than a human being, don't blame someone else when you're caught with your pants down. Take responsibility for your own actions. And barring that, GET A LIFE!!!

When is barbara going to have equal time for conservative viewpoints? She has the deck stacked with all them being liberal and only conservative is Elizabeth. I would demand another conservative if I were Elizabeth. Also when is Barbara going to apologize for having chosen the stupid Sherry and the even dumber Whoopi? Whoopi said once, "Well, it wasn't "rape, rape." Well, isn't that stupider than anything and shouldn't she have had to apologize? Barbara, Whoopi and Sherri are all dumber than dirt and Barbara panders to the liberal left. I am sick of all of them except Elizabeth.

So if you are a conservative then you can say any mean thing you want? Look she said something that she should not have said...period. If it where Sherri or Joy trying to make a joke about it, they would have to apologize too. Why? The general public sees that it was WRONG to say it. You dont have to be a rep. or a dem. to know what is right or wrong on this matter...just have human feelings.
