After Split, Halle Berry's Daughter Nahla Must Become the Focus

Pop-Ed: Here's a lesson to take from Halle Berry's split with Gabriel Aubry: Women in Hollywood must think about who they want to father their children, because the men have rights regardless of how big their bank accounts actually are.

Now that Berry has ended her relationship with the gorgeous younger model, she could have a custody battle on her hands. Regardless of the reason Halle and Aubry's union didn't last -- it has been reported that he couldn't pull his weight in the relationship -- their two-year-old daughter Nahla must become their primary concern.

Reports from Radar Online say the couple is focusing on an amicable split. If things took a turn for the worse and Aubry wanted custody of Nahla, I highly doubt Berry would let that happen, as she is the parent believed to have raised the child on a daily basis since birth.

Even with a Hollywood A-lister in the mix, a custody dispute would not be about money and its impact on Nahla's lifestyle. It would be about which parent will be able to spend the most time with their beloved child. These issues are never easy, regardless of whether you are a celebrity or not. Young children like Nahla are the toughest to deal with because they can't speak and tell a judge their feelings.

Whoever spends the bulk of the time with the child will usually win the primary custodial designation. And this could turn into a "he said she said" battle in a courtroom if Halle and Gabriel can't resolve it out of court. My advice to Berry and Aubry for the best interest of Nahla: Keep the parenting and custody challenges a private matter rather than a more-public court proceeding. Don't air your dirty laundry for the public to view. Nahla deserves better.

I'm sure she knew that when she hooked up with him. He's a model. She is a hugs actress. Her fault. Should not have children when you know the dude can't provide. But like it say's they're gonna work things out for the sake of the daughter.

Ms. Berry received really good DNA! They made a beautiful baby, perhaps she like her own Mother want to raise a chid on their own? Single Mom's have a hard job money can't change that!

I love Halle to death but what is it with Hollywood that everytime someone has a child then end up spiltsville.It never fails I am really shocked if anyone could hold it together I thought it would be her but just goe's to show you that seems no one in LA or Hollywood give a dam about their kids and what they want..sure bring the grandman along she will watch her lol dang Halle girl thought you were the one to set the example well good luck in whatever your looking for they do do sperm banks to save this trouble you know now she has to be half time with you part time with her daddy...How sad

Yes, let's stomp on the woman because she has made poor choices in "your" opinon regarding who she falls in love with! Many woman who grow up in households without benefit of Fathers go on to make these same poor choices. From Halley's own lip's the news of being beaten and stomped on by men she loved at the time are no different than the same stories many young women tell. She is talented and so we hope that she like so many other women will continue to learn to make better choices.

Nobody and i mean nobody except halle her beau really truly know what went on in that relationship. there is one thing that i believe you and i all know and that is that this precious little beautiful girl is love and adored by both her parents very very much. that's all that really counts. as long as they can have a kind and caring relationship for their baby's sake that is what is most important. I personnaly think that Halle is a wonderful loving and caring mommy. I hear it in her voice and see it in her face one that only another mother can see the love you have for the child you carried for nine months. there is nothing not anything that can ever take that away from a mom to her child.
