True Story: 'Real World' Star May Win House Seat

Is the nation ready for its first 'Real World' congressman? With the announcement Wednesday that Wisconsin Rep. David Obey will
end his political career, the conservative guy on MTV's 'Real World: Boston' is now the front-runner to fill the seat, and he and his supporters are taking credit for bringing the powerful Democrat down.
Sean Duffy, who spent 1997 finding out "what happens when people stop being polite, and start getting real," told
The Daily Caller on Wednesday that his rising campaign for the seat played a part in Obey's retirement after 41 years in office.
"If I was to guess, I'd guess that was one of the considerations," he said.
The NRCC, a committee set up to get Republicans elected to Congress, sounded a bit more blunt in their assessment: "It was Sean Duffy and his grassroots-powered campaign that forced Dave Obey into retirement."
Duffy filled the "conservative Midwesterner" spot on season 6 of the show and later participated in 'Road Rules.' During his stint as a reality TV star, he met and married 'Real World: San Francisco' beauty Rachel Campos, and they now have six kids.
While at the Boston firehouse, Duffy would often clash with the liberal-leaning Kameelah Phillips and later credited the two black cast members with helping to teach him about race issues. There was no hot tub in the house (these were more innocent times, folks), so the most scandalous thing he ever did was call Phillips a "bitch."
That said, he doesn't think his time on television should play any part in the race. "People aren't concerned about a reality show from 15 years ago," he said.
The 38-year-old Ashland County District Attorney is the runaway favorite to win the GOP's primary, thanks to backing from the Tea Party and Sarah Palin.

Good for him! That was one of the last great seasons, and him and his wife seem like terrific people.

Kind of funny how, from what I remember of that season, Sean has a house seat and he can't pronounce the word 'house' without that thick Minnesota accent. Ya hey der! :)

Boston Rob wasn't even on the Real World. And Sean isn't a racist either you never watched his season so you don't know what you're talking about.

I don't think that's the reason David Obey retired because he couldn't beat a rising star in Sean just my opinion. I liked Sean's season of Real World and I liked him on the show he seems like a nice guy I like his wife Rachel.

Both Sean and Rachel were blatant racists on the Real World. These were two of the most dispicable characters ever shown on Reality TV. Now they're bringing up 6 more children to be racists. Anyone who votes for this jerk ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Sean's a white guy, Rachel's Latina... Yeah, they're really racist.
Moron.
Tom, you wouldn't know a racist is he bit you in the butt. You're just another disallusioned liberal who wants to go down with the sinking ship. Obey is gone,,,HURRAH !!!!!!!
