Comedy Central May Roll Out Jesus Christ Series
Having already caused a fuss this spring with the depiction of the prophet Muhammad on 'South Park,' Comedy Central revealed it has a cartoon series about Jesus Christ in the works.
'JC' is one of 23 potential series the network said it has in development. It depicts Christ as a "regular guy" who moves to New York to "escape his father's enormous shadow."
It wouldn't be the first time Jesus Christ has been on a Comedy Central cartoon; he's a recurring character on the long-running 'South Park.'
The show presents Jesus' father as an apathetic man who would rather play video games than listen to his son talk about his new life, according to Comedy Central's thumbnail sketch of the idea. Reveille, the production company behind 'The Office,' 'Ugly Betty' and 'The Biggest Loser,' is making 'JC.'
Comedy Central was the target last month of an Internet threat for a 'South Park' episode that supposedly showed Islam's prophet in a bear costume.
Whenever 'South Park' features Muhammad in an episode, Comedy Central obscures the character with a black box; Muslims consider any physical representation of their prophet to be blasphemous. Following the Internet threat, Comedy Central angered 'South Park' producers by editing out a character's speech about intimidation in a subsequent episode.
"It's not certain what is more despicable: the nonstop Christian bashing featured on the network, or Comedy Central's decision to censor all depictions of Muhammad," said William Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Civil and Religious Rights, on Thursday.
Comedy Central wouldn't comment on Donohue's statement, said network spokesman Tony Fox, who declined to give further details about 'JC.'
A development deal is a couple of steps ahead of a series making it to air and, in fact, most such deals don't result in series. The network would have to like the scripts enough to produce a test episode, then like that enough to put it on the air.
Other series in the works are 'Intercourse with Whitney Cummings,' about the comedienne's adventures in dating, and 'Live Sex Show,' a late-night panel discussion about sex.

Once again, it's ok to bash one faith while being scared to death of another. I wouldn't be surprised if they put Jesus, Moses, and Muhammed on a cartoon and said...who will we make fun of this episode? It DEFINATELY won't be number three, they don't want to be killed. It won't be number two, hollywood has a lot to say about programming and networks, so that leaves.....number one. Hey, his people won't say or do anything, they're meek, right? Process of elimination.

You couldn't be more wrong!!!
So True So True
Sherry has her head stuck some place, but it aint in the sand!
Yep, that's what these lowlife cowards do. They bash Christianity without restraint because they know Christianity is not written as a violent, hateful religion as Islam is. To bow before Muslim demands while continuing to bash Christianity is both craven and hypocritical.

I find this a bit problematic when we have to kick Franklin Graham out of this nations Day of Prayer because of his deflammatory remarks about Islam being too violent, when at the same time we have thier terrorist activity in New York, and we have Parker and Stone running into protective custody while they still have to censor "South Park"'s depiction of Muhhammad. Censorship? South Park? what is going on in this country? How is calling out the creators of the show to be deserving of death not a violent statement?
YOU ARE 1000 PERCENT RIGHT AND SHERRY YOU MUST HAVE YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND TO NOT SEE WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS COUNTRY. WE HAVE A MUSLIM BORN AND SCHOOLED PRESIDENT AND WE CRY FOR OTHER PEOPLE WHOSE RELIGION DEMANDS THAT ANYONE WHO IS NOT A FOLLOWER OF THE PEDIFILE MUHAMMAD SHOULD BE KILLED.
You obviously have no idea of what you are talking about.Christianity is, was and always will be a violent belief. The Crusades, the Inquisition, the wiping out of the America Indian(heathens) all were about and for christianity. More recent? How about McVeigh, Waco and the Olympic bombing in Atlanta to name a few.Behind EVERY religion is a group that insists you believe what they believe or THEY WILL KILL YOU.You probably want to kill ME right this second, for stating the truth.
It is amazing to me how mankind shines the spotlight on the most extreme of our kind. We dig and dig and dig to find those whose actions push the outer parameters of our religions, etc. and we heap tons and tons of attention on them. Let me be clear: extremeist in no way represent those who reside in the normal parameters of a particular faith- whether it be Christianity or some other religion. As a Christian, I am ahamed and offended when others outside the faith point fingers at murderers and terrorist who "claim" Christianity as their motive. THese people are NOT Christians and do NOT represent what Christians believe. It takes a very very shallow person to not see and understand that fact.
Waagtod please learn your history before spouting such ignorant filth.
1. The Crusades was not about Christianity but about taking back the land that the Ottoman Empire had conquered and stolen.
2. The Inquisition is not a "Christian thing". It was a Spanish thing and they did this because they were occupied by the Moors and they retaliated to the extreme when they got their control back because they were afraid to endure such mistreatment again.
3. The bombers you mentioned claimed to be Christian but that does not make them so nor do there beliefs necessarily pertain to the Christian ideals taught in our churches and our books.
War was only promoted in pre-Christianity when we were taking the holy land back in the Old Testament. Once Jesus had died for our sins (hence the birth of Jesus beginning modern Christianity) we had no need to such things. We are taught to love our neighbors like our brothers and love your enemies as your friends.
I have to advise you to learn about other beliefs and history before you continue to make yourself look like an idiotic bigot every time you open your mouth.
I want to see if anyone threaten then about bash Jesus Christ I bet no one will say not one word. This is the problem with this country. I hope that someone gets them. And for the people who watch it shame on them.

I love and laugh with SNL humor but I think using the Lords name in vain and making jokes about Christians is sacreligious.
I for one definately won't watch.
I will not watch this or allow it in my home. When they meet the Lord may he have mercy.
I laugh out loud at those of you who still believe in the myth of the great parent in the sky. There is no god. We humans have made all that up so that we can feel safer and for some of us to control others of us. At some point it's important to challenge the myths humans create so humor is one way to do that. And that's why this stuff is funny.
While you may find us believers funny I would suggest that you rethink this life we share. I, for one, am extremely happy in this life believeing in God. You, for another, are extremely happy in this liife while believing in no God. We are both, then, favored with happiness. The catch is that is there is no God I will have lost not one single bit of my happiness when I did. You, however, will have enjoyed happiness if vain if you discover there is a God at the moment of your death. Who will be happy after this life ends? Imperfect faith is better than no faith at all, my friend.
I hope it don't make it. Just because you don't like God or don't believe in him don't give you the right to bash us that do. I am so glad that my children are not allowed to watch your channell. You have just enforced my reason why you are not allowed in my home.

And that goes DITTO for me! All the garbage that pushes the limits of sanity that is shoved at us on TV and in the movies, and then dummies wonder why we live in such a violent respect-less society now.
You go, Melissa. My sentiments exactly.
As long as you're not letting people who don't believe in God, why don't you try letting an English teacher or two in who can teach you and your children to write and speak the English language. It would give your opinion a lot more validity and people would take you serious.
Mama Kelly...do you mean,"seriously?" In addition, your first sentence, a run-on, should have ended in a question mark. To paraphrase, "Let she who is without bad grammar and usage cast the first stone."
