Nutrisystem Sheds Lawrence Taylor Following Arrest

When celebrities get slapped with serious criminal charges, they tend to lose work, and Lawrence Taylor is no different. Hours after his arrest for allegedly raping a 16-year-old runaway, the football great and 'Dancing With the Stars' alum was dropped as a spokesman for weight loss giant Nutrisystem.

A rep for the company told TMZ that the "severity of these allegations" against Taylor gave them no choice but to sever their relationship with him -- "effective immediately."

Taylor was charged Thursday with third-degree rape after he was arrested at a Holiday Inn in Montebello, NY, just after 4AM without incident. The New York Times says the star was also charged with solicitation.

Police maintain that Taylor paid $300 for the sexual encounter that led to the charges. Third-degree rape is a charge levied when the victim is not of the age of consent, which is 17 in New York. The teenager was not named in the case because she is a minor.

Lawrence's attorney, Arthur Aidala, was quoted by the AP saying Taylor is a "loving family man" who did not have sex with the teenager.

"My client did not have sex with anybody," Aidala said. "Lawrence Taylor did not rape anybody."

The charges are serious. The Hall-of-Fame football star faces a maximum of one year in prison on the solicitation charge, a misdemeanor, according to the Times. The maximum sentence for third-degree rape, a felony, is four years.

Taylor was released after posting a $75,000 bond. Taylor, who has had brushes with the law dating back to 1996, is due in court on the latest charges on June 10.

All that cocaine and crack helped too. Stupid stupid man. They haven't said drugs were involved, not that i know of, but this type of situation, a former addict, i'm sure something was going up his nose!!

Went on Dancing with the stars to try to improve his "image" after drug charges and all I guess this is a little set back huh LT? Put him behind bars where he belongs.

His fam, and money wasnt enough for him it seems. For some people, they take what ever they want. Self righteous ways will get anyone in trouble.
The sad part is, that money talks, and this guy will walk.
Justice is still for sell in America.
