Frenemy: 'Housewife' Bethenny Frankel Has Baby

Bethenny Frankel of the 'Real Housewives of New York City' has given birth to a baby girl a month earlier than expected. The author and reality star, who married Jason Hoppy in March, went into labor on Friday. "Bethenny and Jason are proud to welcome their new baby girl, Bryn Hoppy, born at 8AM in New York City," their rep told PEOPLE. "She is a 4 lb. 12 oz., healthy baby. Bryn, mom, dad and [their dog] Cookie are all very happy."

Her fellow 'Housewife' and current frenemy Jill Zarin inadvertently broke the news online, but she mistakenly said Frankel had a boy. "Heard Bethenny had a baby boy," she wrote on Facebook. "So happy for her and Jason. So happy for them."

On Friday afternoon -- at the exact time Life & Style claimed her water broke -- Frankel sent a message to her Twitter followers, thanking them for all their kind thoughts as she labored at New York Presbyterian Hospital: "Thanks so much everyone. your messages were so thoughtful and sweet. I read every one. I love you guys!"

Frankel sent out a Twitter message around 2 p.m. on Saturday. "I can't express how happy I am and how beautiful, supportive and thoughtful you all are. Bryn is a tiny beautiful peanut. New chapter begins. Thank you," she wrote.

Back in October, Frankel announced she was pregnant, only days after telling the world she had become engaged. "I'm pregnant," the 38-year-old wrote on Twitter, adding that she "had to be true with you but was unfairly forced to come forward early."

Frankel and Hoppy are starring in the upcoming reality show, 'Bethenny's Getting Married,' so there's a chance the birth will actually be part of the series when it debuts in June. That would partly explain why she has not announced the news.

She had been chronicling every change in her body during the pregnancy, recently telling fans, "When I was approaching my eighth month, I was exhausted; it was brutal ... Right after my wedding, I swelled like a balloon."

Frankel and Zarin used to be best of friends, but they've recently had a falling out. Alex McCord, their co-star on the Bravo series, told E! last week that there was no hope for their friendship.

"I wish I could say I can see them being friends again, but I don't think it's going to happen," McCord said. "There's so much going on between Jill and Bethenny. You don't see 80 percent of it on camera."

well, thats how jill is, has to be right in the middle. Ms Iknow best for everyone. She obviously doesnt. She should get a "hobby", right! I think Bethanny and Jason will have a beautiful life together with their beautiful daughter. can't wait to see her new show. Hopefully, Jill will not somehow get on.

Congrats to Bethany and Jason. That child will be beautiful and I certainly hope healthy, even though early.

Pity that Jill, who acts like a self delusioned Liz Smith, without even the slightest appearance of gossip ethics (Liz would at least report it after the health was determined). Jill, you are no Liz Smith, you are no friend nor frenemy. You are so self possessed I find you pathetic, self delusional, and quite frankly suffer from Munchhausen without proxy (ignoring your own child except to force her to lose weight to be your "prefect possession" and conduct a fund raiser on air for something she may have wanted to keep off the air (her arthritis) and private). All your daughter is to you is a possession to be exploited.

Go find another pantry and camera for some self pity.

Bobby...Wake up! If you had no money, Jill would be looking for the next monied New Yorker to exploit, extolling the virtues of how he would be nothing without her.

I hope he's healthy & they have a happy life. That might be possible if they get out of the spotlight. It's not healthy to bring the baby into all of that craziness. I do wonder if Bethanny meant for Alex to confront Jill in the horrible disgusting and inappropriate way that she did. It just made things way worse and I really think that Bethanny knows better & didn't mean to have it go down that way. Bethanny stay away from the both of them at least for a while!!!!!!!!

Once again Jill stuck her nose where it didn't belong. She tried to tell Bethenny how to handle the press when Perez Hilton took it upon himself to tell the world that Bethenny was pregnant. Now she tells the world Bethenny gave birth. Stop stealing her glory Jill! Give them some privacy and keep your nose in your own business.
