Donald Trump Defends Scantily Clad Miss USA Contestants

The Miss USA pageant grabbed headlines late last week when the official contestant photos were revealed-featuring the contestants posing seductively in lingerie, fishnets and stilettos.

Since the promotional photos were unveiled, the competition, its organizers, and owner Donald Trump have come under fire. The biggest question: Are the photos appropriate?

Trump wasted no time getting his own thoughts about the situation out there. He stopped by Ryan Seacrest's KIIS radio show this morning to set the record straight. "I think they've gone maybe a little over the top this year. These pictures are pretty wild," he said. "But the girls are incredible."

While Trump admitted they've received a fair amount of complaints, the positive feedback has been strong as well. His bottom line? Since taking over the Miss USA competition in 2002, the show's success keeps growing and growing. And when asked why, Trump said, "The bathing suits got smaller and the heels got higher." At least he's honest!

The photos are definitely more risqué than years past when contestants wore bathing suits or ball gowns. But The Donald isn't apologizing for being a little racy. When asked what the women will wear this Sunday night when the competition airs live on TV, Trump replied, "They'll go as far as they can go on network television... which is pretty far!"

All Trump is doing is providing entertainment that PEOPLE WANT TO WATCH! He doesn't want his Miss USA pageant to drop to the level of the Bowdlerized Miss America Pageant. That one is less interesting than the Senate quorum calls on C-SPAN 2, and probably has lower ratings.

Trump only exists due to controversy. He creates it with sex and scandal and gets his audience. It's like rubberneckers...people always have to see the trainwreck to satisfy their morbid curiosity.

If The Donald gets much uglier, even money will not buy him women. My Gawd, please, no more close up shots of him. His daughter however, a true knock out. His son, looks whimpy. But The Donald is not aging well at all. Just goes to show that money can and does buy anything. His current wife, whats her name, uh, Melania (sounds too much like bloody stool - melena) will leave him when his money runs short. I am sure other things are already running sort of short, or short circuited.

The statement that this pageant "keeps growing and growing" is an outright lie. ALL these beauty pageants have been on the downhill swing for years now. They get low ratings and end up in some God forsaken venue or third world country.

Beauty pageants are sooo boring but Donald has something at stake in these ridiculous contests since he took over Miss USA in 2002 and he does speak the truth. If they weren't showing skin, they would probably lose viewers.

Has anybody else noticed that Donald doesn't ever really buy anything? He just seems to fly around in an outdated jet-trailer and drive a used black Lamborghini diablo and countach. It is some fascination that Jay Leno also has these two cars in red.

Women are willing to be judged on their looks for money and fame--so what else it new?. But women trouncing on feminism isn't the only issue. I remember making fun of these lame pageants since I was a child. Hard to believe that there is still an audience. Silly people.

Most of the contestants look great and wear the lingerie, fishnets and stilettos well, but their makeup was so overdone that they look more like prostitutes than beauty pagent contestants. Most of these young women look more beautiful with less makeup.
It's entertaining, but seems to be too over-done for the Miss USA pagent.
