Ever since Susan Boyle's iconic performance on 'Britain's Got Talent' last year, the world has been eager to crown a successor as the next unlikely singing phenomenon. And boy, have there been plenty of challengers! The answer perhaps lies in Janey Cutler, a feisty 81-year-old woman who's taking 'Britain,' and the rest of the world, by storm. Ever since Susan Boyle's iconic performance on 'Britain's Got Talent' last year, the world has been eager to crown a successor as the next unlikely singing phenomenon. And boy, have there been plenty of challengers! Ranging from 8-year-old Laura Fontana's best Lady Gaga impression on Brazilian television to Taiwan's Lin Yu Chun, who has a set of pipes rivaling Whitney Houston in her prime, hundreds of thousands of viewers have catapulted these singers to Internet stardom -- but can anyone match Susan Boyle's multi-platinum success? The answer perhaps lies in Janey Cutler, a feisty 81-year-old woman who's taking 'Britain,' and the rest of the world, by storm. Check out her powerhouse performance after the jump>>>"I'm over the moon just to have been able to perform on the program," Cutler tells the UK's Telegraph. "This unexpected interest is making it even more of a dream come true."
Since her triumphant moment, Cutler has been the object of worldwide media attention -- she's even discussed her sudden stardom with CBS News. The great-grandmother, who has been singing since the age of 6, auditioned for the show at the behest of a friend after initially shooting down the idea on account of being "too old."Aside from their similarly jaw-dropping performances on 'Britain's' stage, Cutler's own journey also mirrors that of Boyle's. She was discovered while auditioning in Glasgow, Scotland -- the same city where Boyle was found by the show. So what does Cutler think of the comparisons? She tells CBS News that she's "on her own" and doesn't compare herself to anyone.
After Betty White's triumphant 'SNL' episode, it seems octogenarians are having the best week ever. So what do you think, is the 81-year-old grandmother good enough to fill SuBo's enormous, albeit modest, shoes? Judge Simon Cowell sure seems to think so, giving Cutler "3,003" yeses -- one for everyone in the 'Britain's Got Talent' studio audience.

At age 80, Janey Cutler's voice is surprising. But Susan Boyle was 'shock and awe.' Susan continues to reign supreme.

Who is Susan Boyle?

Do you live under a rock?
"YOU must be black"...wow a racist ignorant person can find any was to be insulting
same here I had to look up her name. I don't live under a rock I just don't follow most tv shows
Turn off MTV and the top 40 stations and get with the real world. You obviously are living in a Rock-Rap-Crap box filling your ears and head with the worst noise ever put on CD's. Susan Boyle is the vocal find of the last ten years and she has a real "voice", not a fraudulent facade created by a talent agent.
Relax, y'all. Not everybody watches all shows. No need to get all nasty
Well done Miss Cutler to a Edith Piaf's Non rien du rien, non je ne regrette a rien... Merci Madame, ca c'est tres bien a faite.

Tuula...you are right, she's great and Non, rien de rien is a hard song to sing, due to the emotional content of it. My fave Piaf song.
that ole bitty is awful--hurts my ears

As a gramma of 74 who has always wanted to do this, I think she is remarkable!

Good luck to Janey. No Susan Boyle, but I hope she gets a few gigs out of this.
