Piffle. I'm 54, I've seen great rock artists live since I was a kid, and I can tell she's brilliant.
I am so sick of that same old argument. Anytime someone wants to discredit an artist, they accuse them of being copycats of previous artists. We all know there were artists before Lady Gaga and they she draws inspiration from them heavily. She herself will tell you that. So what? David Bowie (one of your examples) didn't invent every single thing he did either. I'm sure he wouldn't claim to have done so. Pop culture is an ever-evolving entity, and all artists draw on what's been done and put their own spin on it.
As for musical history, if you look at pop music over the last ten years, how can you not see Lady Gaga has far more interesting and unusual than yet another vacuous barbie doll bimbo lypsynching to a song she didn't write? That's been the face of pop music for too long now. At least people like Gaga are trying to bring some flavor back to the genre.
We all have different tastes and that's totally fine. If you hate her music and her style, there's nothing wrong with that. But to put others down for their tastes (i.e. calling those who like Lady Gaga annoying and dumb) is obnoxious and arrogant. Frankly, it makes you sound like a bitter old woman ranting about what's wrong with this generation and how "back in my day music was good!" Do you not recall hearing the same negative chatter about Bowie, Michael Jackson, even Elvis? It's always been the same and I suppose there will always be bitter Grinches in the world. But if I were you I'd take a second and think twice about whether or not that's the role you want to play in life.
She is so dark. We know who she serves. People think she is an original. Not!
