Larry Birkhead Selling Off Anna Nicole's Things to Benefit Dannielynn

Anna Nicole Smith's memorabilia is being auctioned off by Larry Birkhead, her former partner, to benefit their daughter, Dannielynn, reports
Reuters.
"It's like, do I want to hold on to one of Anna's dresses, or do I want to try to help Dannielynn's future?" said Birkhead. Auction proceeds will go to the 3-year-old girl as well as charity.
Birkhead, a photographer, has spent the last three or four months "buried in storage bins, archiving and cataloging" Smith's worldly possessions. Not all of the items are to be sold -- some items will be held as keepsakes for Dannielynn.
A wide variety of possessions are on the block. Most notable are a 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster and a collection of bronze statues, both given to Smith by billionaire oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall during their highly-lampooned marriage. Other intriguing items include home furniture displayed on E!'s 'The Anna Nicole Show' as well as her envied collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, including a Marilyn cookie jar. Also to be sold are red carpet gowns and Smith's own paintings.
"You'll see Anna's love for the finer things, but you'll also see the down home girl that would paint pictures and carry little, fun purses," Birkhead reminisced. This includes pet-related memorabilia. The dog bed and bowls that belonged to her miniature poodle Sugar Pie will also be sold. And in a nod to her charity work, PETA will gain the proceeds from the sale of a dress Smith wore in an ad for the animal rights group. Julien's Auctions will hold the event at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on June 26 in Las Vegas.
The Anna Nicole and Daniel Wayne Smith Foundation will earn a flat fee from the items sold -- with the exception of the PETA gown. Smith started the Foundation, which works to assist underprivileged kids, after son Daniel died of an accidental drug overdose just a few days after Dannielynn's birth. He was 20. Any remaining money will be put in trust for the young girl.
Smith herself died of an accidental drug overdose in February 2007. The former Guess and Playboy model was embroiled in a legal battle regarding the estate of late-husband Marshall, which has been ongoing. In March 2010, a lawsuit by Smith's estate for $300 million from Marshall's estate was denied in full by a federal appeals court. This past week, a request to reconsider this decision was denied by an appeals court. Dannielynn would have been the main benefactor of any judgment.
Birkhead is adamant that he has not been gold digging. "We have money," he said. "We have more than enough to survive on. [Auction proceeds] would just supplement that."
So why the prolonged legal battles? "Dannielynn has different needs than other kids," explained Birkhead. "She has to have security because we have a lot of curious people and it creates a bit of a problem. And now that she's starting school, she'll need to go to a private school."
Birkhead waged a successful paternity battle and raises his daughter between their homes in Los Angeles and Kentucky. And although he misses Smith and does not necessarily want to part with these mementos, he does hold onto something else. "I have come to the realization that you don't have to have something in your hands for it to be a memory," said Birkhead.
And finally, does Birkhead think Smith would approve of his actions? "I think Anna would appreciate that these items are going to help Dannielynn thrive and flourish and continue being the great kid that she is."

Shouldn't Dannilynn be suing the Howard Stern party for the Balance of Anna's estate?
Why isn't Stern in prison for the homicides yet?

OMG he should'nt sell anything!!!!! OMG that is sooooo unbelieveably wrong!!!! He should save all of her stuff for when she grows up so she can have all of her mom's stuff and then decide what to do with it when she gets older. Now all Anna's stuff will be gone!! Im sure Dannilynn would like to hold her mothers clothing and smell the scent of her mother she never will have that.Or smell the scent of Anna's favorite perfume on her clothing. OMG her shouldnt get rid of anything let Dannilynn do it but it should be her idea not her fathers!!!! Thats fu**ed up!! It's makes all the difference too because Anna was a celebrity!! Wha he needs to do is get a frickin job and take care of that little precious baby! Larry dont get rid of Anna's stuff for the sake of Dannilynn keep it for her so she has all Anna's things when she gets older to remember and get to know her mother!!!

Allowing Danielynn keepsakes makes sense. It's a shame Nicole couldn't have auctioned many of her things while alive to aid charities she supported. To quote the story: "Birkhead, a photographer, has spent the last three or four months buried in storage bins, archiving and cataloging Smith's worldly possessions." I imagine it was a full-time job to act appropriately with everything that Nicole had acquired. None of us is prepared for death. We know Nicole wasn't. It is an added burden to grief over a loved one who is forced to decide how to deal sensitively with possessions left by family members. Things with proof of value should be sold to collectors. It must, however, be kept in mind that these are hard times. If you don't wear it or use it, give it away.

Do what you need to do Larry! I think you're being a good father and I wish you all the best. I saw photos of you and Danilynn at the Ky. Derby and both of you looked happy.

Larry can also get a real job to support his and Anna Nicole's daughter. Most people do that, instead of ramsacking what should be their daughter's treasures of mom.

I don't really care about such drivel but there is no reason to keep all the "material possessions" she had when they can benefit her Daughter and her Sons' Charity. I think if could be asked what she would have given to have her Son back the she would have given up everything she had. I'm sure she would feel the same about her daughter. There really is no discussion past that. The best in remembrance of her Son and the best future for her Daughter or a Car and other materials, nanosecond pause.........give it all to the auction.

The father has the right idea in terms of the security, but does she really need "more" money. If the proceeds from the sale of these items will benefit both her and the foundation that her mom started, why not?

Ugh, this Larry should just go the f*** away with his little boy haircut.
And quit painting that kid's face in every pic. It's so eery, given Anna's infamous clown video.

I think Larry is doing the right thing. And I have no problem if some of the money goes for his expensives. The main thing is he is raising his daughter right and you don't seem in the tabloids trying to continue his 15 minutes of fame. Good luck to both Larry and his daughter.

I think Larry is doing the right thing. His daughter don't need all those things. Some will be enought for her to remember her mother buy. Even if some of the money go for Larry's expenses so what. The main thing is he has his daughter's best interest at the forefront. He is not in the tabloids every other week trying to extend his 15 minutes. So I say good for you Larry.

Good luck Larry with your precious baby Dann. Do what you have to do so that your daughter can live a good life

Since Danilynne will never meet her older brother either, I hope Larry finds a nice, trustworthy woman that will give her a family structure. I don't think Anna's Mother is that person. No matter how we feel about Larry, Dani is his biological child. Vigie, nor Howard can change that.

When my father died, he was a man of few things. The only thing I have of his is a an Army metal of "Good Conduct" and his wedding band I would have liked to have something like his flannel shirts so I could have made a quilt or wall hanging. Danni will have videos great photographs, but she needs something that she can holds in her hands. Just a thought.
